Hi,
Thought I'd better introduce myself.
I have a 4 year old GWP and a 6 month old Working Cocker. I am currently training both to use as beating dogs. The GWP was my baptism of fire into training a working gundog and she has been a steep learning curve to say the least. She is still a work in progress but we have both learned a lot along the way. My aim is to try to enter her in the Gundog UK field tests some time this year and eventually to get her working on a local shoot. She is too bonkers for this at the moment but we will get there eventually!!
The WCS is a walk in the park comapred to the wire but then he has beneifted from everything that I learned with her
It is interesting hearing how everyone is getting on
HI Leane
wellcome i have a 2yr 9mth GWP he is my baptism of fire,
we too have learnt alot along the way and are climbing the steep sometimes slippery training slope.
I have 2 wirea a 1 year old retired, a 3.5year old who has just done her first full season picking up and a 7.5 month old pup they are great but hard work

I too have a GWP and a working cocker and can agree with you completely - the cocker has been a much easier ride than the GWP but both have their own rewards!!!
We sold a puppy to someone down in Devon last year and to hear the wonderful type ground this puppy is exercised and trained on makes me very jealous !!
