Hello,

Saw your invitation on another site. My name is Brad Higgins. I train hunting dogs and do upland gamebird guides here in Northern California. I've also studied your gamekeeping methods and raise and release pheasants each year.

I have a website (www.higginsgundogs.com) with photos and short movie clips of my operation including dog training, hunting, trapping hawks (I'm a licensed falconer), calling in the pheasants, feeding on the rides, clay pigeon shoots, etc.

Thanks for the invitation. I look forward to discussions from across the pond.

Brad Higgins

Welcome to the forum Brad Very Happy What do you do with the pheasants you release - do you have a formal walked up shoot?

My partner and I were just saying the other day - what with the demand for British labs in the US and increasingly for British training methods, I think it could be very lucrative for somone to run a "British shoot" in the US! Very Happy (Not that I'm giving you business ideas!) Shocked Very Happy

Josie,

Where I raise the pheasants, we can't shoot. When we want to do a shoot, I catch some up, transport them to the hunting fields and re-release them for a day shoot. The birds are then hunted with pointing dogs. All of this is done primarily for dog training and getting the dogs ready for wild pheasant season.
