I do apologise Mike.....I Laughing think the VDD is the Drahtaar Club in Germany, it is extremely strict and dogs have to pass certain tests before they will be accepted, They also determine which dogs are bred from.

I think that what it is anyway Laughing

Im sure Seadog will correct me if Im wrong.

Oh I see, similar to the VJP, HZP and VGP (don't ask me what they mean!!!) for Weimaraners in Germany. I wonder if the tests are very different between the breeds? The Weimaraner club in Germay also approves which dogs can and can't be bred from (although it does seem that some that fail go to countries other than Germany to be bred from Rolling Eyes ) I believe the Weim test also require the dog to be approved on its conformation as well.

Hi Seadog

Whereabouts are you located? I'm on Vancouver Island BC with my 4 Vizslak Wink Sadly no NAVHDA here though, so I have no clue how to get into the work side of things Crying or Very sad We have a distinct lack of GWP here too!

BTW I speak German folks (used to live in Germany and have a German for a husband Shocked )

K9 : I'm on the other side of Canada in Toronto.... Rhimad is correct in his/her explanation, it's the German breed club. Yes they are strict but in the end you have a dog that you can be PROUD of (assuming you are prepared to do WHAT is required to take a dog to the level of training that they expect) . The German testing system is similar if not the same for all breeds that the JGHV recognizes.

Hello Seadog

I agree, you definately have GWPs to be proud of if the VDD Club recognise them. We are talking about importing a dog and a Bitch from Germany... I need to convince Helen to come in with us Laughing

I think this country should take a leaf out of Germany's when it comes to working dogs and breeding.
