Hello:

I just joined Working HPR Forum after lurking for some time. I live in the central part of the U.S., also know as the Great Plains Region of the country. I breed, train, and hunt Deutsch drahthaars and am a staunch member and supporter of the Verein Deutsch Drahthaar (VDD). My kennel name is vom Wildflugel and I raised my first litter in 1987. I am a VR judge and seem to be on the road either testing or judging drahthaars in the spring and fall. I look forward to participating on this site.

Hi and welcome to the board!

What is a VR judge, by the way?

Thanks for the welcome. "VR" is an abbreviation for Verbans Richter (English translation means Association Judge). A VR judge is certified through the JGHV to judge any JGHV tests where ever they are sanctioned. The JGHV is short for Jagdgebrauchshund-Verband e. V. The JGHV is the umbrella organization in Germany for all of the versatile hunting dogs. It provides the test regulations, authorizes the judges, and maintains the test records for member breed clubs, including VDD.

Langhaar:

I met Del several years ago when I conducted a training clinic for some folks out in Washington State. I am very good friends with Herman and have judged several of his dogs over the years at our VJP and HZP tests. His dogs have always done well at the tests. Herman is quite the character and always leaves me laughing.

Many thanks for your reply. We have been invited to quail shoot with Del so hopefully we may going to the US next year, he keeps us up to date with Langhaars in the US. Going to Germany in the spring to the Club Langhaar Bundeszuchtschau re further bloodline. My partner visited their HZP in September. The breeder of our last German import is coming to the UK to shoot pheasant with us in 2 weeks time.
We were pleased to hear that Del and Herman were successfull in their application to be included in the Deutsch Langhaar Verband. Are Drathaars in the US?
