Not been on here too much over the past couple of months or so.  For those of you that don't know, I have moved back home to the North of England as I decided to split up from my partner.  So I left Scotland at the end of May with 2 of my 3 weimaraners, unfortunately I had to leave one with my ex  Sad

Anyway, as you can imagine its been a tough time and I've been settling down, or at least trying to, and I'm now starting to think ahead towards the season.

I am looking for some picking up work for Whistle this season and I'm willing to travel an hour or just over which would mean I'd be looking for work in the Northumberland, Newcastle, Durham and North Yorkshire areas.  Theoretically I could travel up to the Scottish borders to pick up on the syndicate I was part of but I don't think my ex would appreciate that somehow  Laughing  Laughing   I have emailed NOBS but got no reply  Rolling Eyes   So thought I would post on here to see if anyone knows of anyone looking for a picking up dog.  I'll be gutted if I can't work her this season as she did so well last season, picking some difficult runners and woodcock.  I've been putting the word around but not had much luck as yet  Sad

Have you tried posting to PuBS.  I know they were advertising places in North Yorkshire but can't remember if it was picking up or beating.

Sorry I've not been on here for a while.  Thanks to you all for your replies and PMs.

Jo I had to leave Harris behind, kills me to think of him but I really didn't have any choice  Crying or Very sad   Never thought I'd see the day I had to give up a dog of mine....

I'm doing ok now, settling a little more, just need to sell my bloody house in Scotland and then I can move on properly.  Anyone want to buy a 4 bedroom, 2 bathroom cottage with large garden in East Lothian ??  Laughing

Still no reply from NOBS, but I've got a keeper to phone and also going to try PUBS so fingers crossed.

Hi Claire, we have had this news on weims world for a while, so I hope things are getting better for you. You are still down as East Lothian in your profile though!

Looking forward to hearing of news of Whistle this coming season, on here or on weims world. You had a few Guns' awards last season if memory serves...

All the best,

Nigel

Well I STILL have not found any work  Sad   I never did hear back from NOBS.  I have registered with PUBS who have been very helpful so far.  A couple of keepers are aware I am looking for work but nothing has been forthcoming.  I am now thinking I might try and find out which of my local butchers deal in game and see if they can put me in touch with anyone.  Jeez I knew it would be difficult but I didn't think it would be this difficult !!!

I should be going on some shot over days and I may enter a trial or two this season, but it just isn't the same as a full days work.  I've worked a dog for the last 4 shooting seasons now and I'm really missing it  Sad
