Well I'm going to bite the bullet. I am going to organise a training day for water. I have no idea where to start, but I'm going to give it a go. Any ideas anyone?
I should say that if I can get it off the ground I'd like it to be located north of the midlands, but don't mind where as long as it is relatively easily accessible and safe. I don't know how many dogs it will cater for, but HPR's will get preference.
Anyone prepared to make suggestions, help out with training or suggest locations?
Also I will need to use a club with insurance as a sponsor, and I hope that it will be non-profit. Really I have only just decided to give it a go on the back of some of the recent threads, and if it works, who knows what may come of it. I am not trying to replace anyones other training, more of an 'in addition to this, lets have a get together and a training session for like minded folk'.

| Nina have you contacted the weimaraner club Suzi B organised some great water days last year and am sure she'd be able to point you in the right direction. |

Well that might just be a really good option Tasha - I will see if there is anything planned..... I've found a fun day on GSPA and it only goes up to 2 years hehe - I could LIE . In fact I think the Suzi B option might be really worthwhile looking at I am happy to help out or organise, but I need to get something on the go. So far though it might only be for me . I was actually toying with the idea of asking if I could go to the GSPA one as a helper to compensate for having a slightly older dog (I'd need to join though). Failing that me and Anya will be in the Lake District in May, all alone hehe (coz that was the original plan, get her up there and get in where we used to canoe - just involves a little tresspassing though ) but the water there is fantastic. Fancy getting Bonnie and Ayla wet????

well if you fancy paddling down this way I can ask the boss if you can use his lake and you could ask Suzi for a one to one? we had the added incentive of duck Plus bonnie doesn't mind helping out by chucking herself in the water |

Tasha I might do that, as it doesn't seem like there will be any takers, and I know Suzi has a good reputation, so I'll be in touch privately soon!

Hi Nina,
If you sort anything in the North, I would love to join in. The more experience of different waters the better! |

We have, just last week before the cold snap, got Anya swimming
I am still happy to get something arranged or to find something, it would be great to get something off the ground I need to ring around now I have some takers. Maybe the WCGB would do the insurance etc if we managed to find a venue and trainer and as I say - I am happy to do a lot of the legwork

I'd be interested, especially for different waters as Carmen will go in but takes her time! Once she's been in she has no problems at all but she is cautious when entering new water!
Sale water park is great for doing a bit of water work and there's a big field soon after the water where you can get them doing good retrieves etc. |
