How come it isn't considered necessary to dock Munsterlanders? Do they not really take to heavy cover?

Because they have a hairy tale?
It is not considered necessary to dock Long Haired Weimaraners either _________________ Nothing could be finer than to work a Weimaraner! |

| Some breeders do dock Munsterlander tails slightly. Mine are not and some do get damaged slightly when they go through thick brambles etc. but they seem to heal up quite quickly |

Hi Des,
Traditionally the last quarter of the tail is docked, some breeders do and some don't. I have one that is and one that isn't at the moment, From my experience I would choose a docked one every time if I had the choice.
As for entering thick cover, if the nose says there is Game in there they go in, if the nose says there ain't no game in there they tell you to go in if you want to If you know what I mean

My Munstie is docked, though his tail is still very long and you wouldn't be able to tell- as I understand they have a gristly (sp?) bit at the end that can be hooked and cause problems when entering dense spikey foliage as mine does on a daily basis!!! And the problem is that he is so big and strong that he will just barge his way through undergrowth where a slighter or smaller dog may struggle!! _________________ Regards
