Hi,

Not been on here in a looooooooong time so thought I would say hello!

I am Claire, in Kent with 2 GWP's (both black & white), 2 Italian Spinoni (both White & Orange), border terriers (4 at the last count), a cat, ferrets and nearly some chickens.

Look forward to chatting.  Certainly some of the topics on here are right up my street.  Very Happy

Claire

hi Claire
Nice to be on the same forum as you. Still got a soft spot for GWP - started with your Jasper when he was a pup. Regards to your parents

Hellooo!!

I didn't know you were getting chickens!  What sort?  I'm getting some more at the weekend - a trio of light sussex.  Hopefully, they will lay a bit better than the ones I already have!

For those that don't know, Claire bred my Harvey.

Hi Claire

How are you? Hope your family and menagerie are all well.

I've got Plymouth Barred Rock chickens which are gorgeous to look at but eat as many eggs as we do and when a hen hatched her chicks she ate them too.  I have since been told that they are not the best breeders....

Weeeeeeell,........ <stand by for lengthy explanation>........ parents bought us a big posh chicken coop for Christmas but it needs painting and roofing felt putting on it.  The weather has been s***, I don't do painting or roof felting (coz that's mans work) plus Lee has been constantly revising for an exam.

Anyway, the exam was sat on tuesday and now I have a fully functioning husband again.  Once it is painted and roofed then we can get the chickens!

Been doing lots of research into what breed to get and just can't make my mind up.  I think I'll pass on the egg eating variety though.  Laughing

Any suggestions for good layers would be gratefully received.  It has to be a breed that looks nice too as I can't have mingers in this posh house.  Laughing
