About 18-20 years ago, (I think!) a man whos name is (I think!) Bob Lynch came to me for help to get his Weimaraner, a big male dog, a field trial award. This dog had already won in the showring and at working tests. I did help him and he did get a trial award.
I have not seen or heard of this man for years, can any of you tell me if he is still on the go? I think he lived in S.W. Scotland.

I remember him Bill & you are right he was called Bob Lynch. I haven't heard about him for years but funily enough his name came up in a converssation I was having with a friend a few months back.
The dog was Ch Reeman Aruac CDex, UDex, WDex if I'm not mistaken? I think he may have lived around Strathclyde although I'm not good on Scottish geography. _________________ Claire

Thanks Claire,
After he'd got his CH. status with a trial place, he spotted me at Ingleston dog show, (I was slumming it! ) He grabbed a hold of me, he was a big bloke, introduced me rather lavishly to all his friends and then force fed me whisky - lots of it!!!
Somebody else had to drive my car and me home, to this day I don't know who did this!
Bob must be a fair age by now and I'd like to know how he's doing. When he first approached me I was very doubtful, but the man was good and so was the dog considering it was about 5 years old when I started it on game. I wonder how many present day Weimaraners have his blood in them?

I would have thought him a fair age too. He did have a big Weimaraner & in those days they were all big. A judge of the breed has said only recently, that she thinks the breed is getting too small - I would disagree with that statement.
The dog was used quite a bit as he was a longhair carrier and he was used a lot in Scotland rather than England. _________________ Claire

Hi Claire,
To my mind he was not only a good looking dog, he was a good natured dog at a time when that could not be said of all the Weimaraners in this country. He was chok-a-blok with ability and was backed up by a good no-nonsense handler.
As I said earlier, Bob was a big fella, not many dogs would have wanted to argue with him!
I.M.O. this dog could have gone further in trials, as it was getting a 4th place first time out at a field trial is no mean achievement for either dog or handler.
The photograph shown of dog and handler, I have in the house. Bob sent it to me as a thankyou and something to remember him by.
I won't forget either man or dog.

One of the girls (women) who works at our local animal rescue centre is very much into working trials and friendly with Bob and the last I heard he was still going strong. He used to live in Ayr - don't know if he still does.
I remember when he first got the dog (Reeman Aruac) he was a right handful, and Bobby had to put in a lot of hard work with him - and it certainly paid off.
Bill, p m me if you want me to try and get more info as I see the woman quite often in the village and might be able to put you back in touch. _________________ Liz |
