A hard-workerMugi has just completed two full-days beating.
Yesterday the weather was ok although windy and he worked hard, he was keen to start
even when we had ear issues
He particularly enjoyed working the mustard
While loose he also put up a hare and only chased 20m - fab for him as I have let him chase a hare in the past (only cos I welcomed any opportunity for him to become less than velco dog). He worked close and well all day.
Then today we went again. This is the first time he will have done 2 full days and I had a contingency to leave him in the kennel at the shooting lodge if he was too tired by lunch. In fact he barely registers his age when working, he was still sound and keen so he completed the day.
Highlights were, not chasing two hare, 3 fallow and an extremely fast muntjac - off lead for all but he stood firm and watched them away. He also found a dead partridge under a clump of nettles. He had been hunting well on the drive when he suddenly veered off, he refused to return to my call until he had retrieved the bird which he brought back tidily and let me take. The bird will have been pricked on yesterday's morning drive I guess due to location.
Downside was his first pegged pheasant, mind you it was well hunkered down and refused to flush. Mugi was just too keen to move it and he ended up with a gobful of feathers in his chops. The bird got up and thankfully landed in the jaws of the land owners lab. So I know the bird was killed but although Mugi started the process he didn't finish it and the lab does have prior form as he kills most times he is out.
Resting up before the final drive of the day, tired but happy
He has had a large bowl of mince and biscuits and is now snoring happily in his crate

Who was it that fell into the bush on the way back to her room, and, more to the point, left the whiskey bottle there

Nope, now real Russian Vodka straight out of the bottle - that's a different story. I made some vodka and bramble liqueur for New Year about six weeks ago and it's all gone - and I didn't drink it. I made some with whisky as well, now I DID like that!
