a summers day walkwith the weekend weather being too hot to do much i ended up going to a dog show, the first time in over ten years same people different dogs, although it was nice to catch up with some lost contacts and i did spend a few hours with a trio of spinone while i convinced there breeder to join our nzvhda lol, met up with helen and liesel as well, liesel had to sort out the italians who where no match for the german in the playfight stakes lucky the weather cooled down enough on the sunday to go for a walk, planned on a fallow hunt but walking with a deer on my back for two hours in the still humid heat didn't really fill me with joy.
a walk round a local lake due to have some duck banding done sounded the cooler opition...the dogs, worked solid for three hours for a water rat and no pheasants the surrounding farmers have planted maize but with a bird repellant that must have killed them off oh well here's some pic's, all public land thats open to shoot on in season.

Hi Kiwi. apart from the big pond or lake in the pics the area looks very like the place I had to try to train Buck in last summer. I call it the "Triangle" short for Bemuda Triangle 'cos my dogs get lost in it and I've been "lost" myself there a couple of times. We have snow on the ground here as I type this, summer warmth is just a memory!

Do you know Tony King Kiwi He has a Britt which he imported from England 18 months or so ago, she has just had a litter to a dog of Australian breeding. They live on the North Island as far as I am aware

no don't know him sorry, i do know a few guys that breed britts and have seen plenty of litters advertised in the last few years so you would think alot more of the breed would be seen around

One of the litter that I got Moss from went to New Zealand, don't know who to though, but I was told it was being trialled. Breeder was Jamie Walden from Devon.

Summer, pah! I'm looking out of the window at patchy snow which has frozen solid! The ground is lethal!
Nice pics. The public land...can anyone go and shoot? Do you need a permit?

Kiwi - on the free ground are birds released to be shot? How is disturbance by dogs prevented during the breeding season for those pheasants trying to breed in the wild ?

John the bitch's name is Kenmillex Gamecourt and she is the one that Tony King has...she has just whelped a litter of 8, 4 b/w and 4 o/w to an Australian bred dog. Did you realise that your boy's grandmother is Ghillie's sister
