As commanded.....hiJust joined the forum,
As you probably guessed from myusername I am falconer flying a Goshawk, with the aid of my 2 HPRs an ageing Vizsla - unfortunately this is likely to be his last season. He was diagnosed with heart failure 10months ago but he has bounced back on the pills to such an extent that he has been very keen to work this season (albeit against the orders of the vet) he has been out 2-3 times a week on slightly more gentle forays but in my mind life is for living, hunting & hawking has been his life, my opinion is beter to enjoy a few months work than be miserable for a bit longer! Whilst he wants to come out he will be welcome.
I also have a young GSP (at least in nature) (Madcap) who I work with both hawk & lesser extent gun who forms the backbone of our team. Together we have travelled & hawked all over the country, just getting back from County Durham before the snow after a good few days hawking.
Hope all are enjoying the season.

balls. I wrote a long reply and then lost it.
So in brief:
Welcome.
Do you know Emma Gooden from Shuttleworth BOP centre?
I think Goshawks are amazing and one day when i have the time i would love to keep them - my experience so far is limited to flying HHs at rabbits - which is great fun but not quite the same level as a gos!
Cheers

Many thanks for the welcome, space coyote i'll stick to the blue planet .
Ben, I don't know Emma from Shuttleworth, glad your having fun with your HH catching rabbits is great fun especially if you can find them sitting out.
Where we are we, the ground is heavy clay so we get too few rabbits to be a viable quarry species. Consequently I put down pheasant and a few partridge(which the landowner likes to see about although the grnd is not ideal for them either).
I shall try & post a few pics.

A hen pheasant caught at the w/end tracked down as the sun was setting, it had gone about 1/4mile off my ground. Fortunately the landowner is also a good friend.
