Breed First Schutzhund

Probably an HPR first AND a gundog first too as far as I know.

Over the weekend my LH Weimaraner became the first Weim in the UK to be awarded the FH1 title and the AD title.

The first is Fahrtenhund 1 (Advanced tracking) where the dog had to follow a 1,200 pace track, 3 hours old, with a cross track and change surfaces from wheat over a well used public footpath into rape and find 4 articles. This she did with a grading of "SG" (very good), 90 marks out of 100.

The second title is the Endurance test which requires the dog to trot beside me on a bike for 12.5 miles and still be fit to continue.

This makes her Fursdon Twylyte Tramontano K9MS2 AD BH FH1 CDex UDex WDex TDex!

Well Done Allison,
You learn something new every day,
Qualified TDex with GSD's many years ago while a service handler and made many friends amongst which I am proud to say was Terry Hadley.
Watched him work all his WTch's from Jake the Rottie throught the GSD's BC's Labs and HOGAN the GWP.
At that time Schutzhund was relatively new and a few Like Stuart Nye switched over from WT.
Didn't realise that it was possible for HPR's and other breeds to compete in the Korklass which is something I would be interested in with my Lad.
All the best for the future.

Hiya, (my other dog is a GSD) Very Happy

Terry, bless him, did very well in trials.

You can compete in Schutzhund with ANY breed, the only thing that you cannot do is take part in the selection trials for the WUSV as this is restricted to GSDs.

There are a few BCs who have Sch qualifications as well as Rotties, Dobes and Belgian Malinois.

I am hoping to participate in an FH2 later on this year if it is put on in the UK.

Allyson,

Enjoyed my time in WT and trained up a few Mali's and various other breeds for service work. Looking back there is now much more choice with the type of work it is possible to compete in.
Saw the World Schutzund championships for service dogs and also viewed the French ringsport competitions. Where I live on Cannock Chase I regularly see the people who train the dog teams to pull the Tricycles.
On retirement, after 30 years of "Dog Handlers Twitch" decided to leave the working breeds alone and get some more sociable dogs to compete and work with.
Hence the HPR and Springers.
It's my regret that I wont live long enough to participate in all the differrent aspects of dog work. Sled dogs particularly spring to mind.
Sticking with the gundog work at present.
All the best with the FH2

Thanks guys, it is not only fabulous to have the most versatile, titled Weimaraner ever in the UK (short or long, male or female) but in actual fact the most versatile, titled gundog and even better the most versatile, titled dog of any breed in the entire UK!

She had a lovely critique from the judge at Crufts too!

So I think I will keep her just a little bit longer............. Very Happy
