cloning for colour markings. If I wanted to clone a much loved dog (I don't) - lets say a Brittany or a Munsty. Would cloning result in an exact match for the original dogs markings ?
An odd question I know but it sort of popped into my head and my head doesn't know enough about this. If a litter of 6 was born would they all have markings identical to the original ?

Cannae answer your question I'm afraid but its made me giggle all the same. What random thoughts you have

Bill, if the markings are genetic (i.e. coded for by the DNA) in nature than a clone would look identical. Markings caused by "events" wouldn't (although epigenetics does suggest that some events do affect your DNA and as a result get passed on to future generations)

Glad I made you giggle Claire If you don't know you've got to ask though. Being ignorant on purpose really is stupid...... I agree my head comes up with some real oddball thoughts but at least it's still thinking.
Thanks Mike
