I was at the Fair on Friday and have to be honest I feel the same as Sue about the Royal - I paid £13 to get in (no SC concessions ) and don't begrudge the GCC the money, but I didn't feel I got much for my money except the atmosphere - it was a ticket to see places selling stuff. I saw a heap of labs and spaniels not jumping fences to retrieve dummies when they were told to, not marking, jumping the fence when the dummy wasn't over there, not coming back when they were called back. I don't know what level of test it was but it wasn't good. I admit Allez can't do it either but I'd have been embarassd if I'd entered him in that. I did see a very amusing spaniel display, with an old lab adding to the fun. There was a very good falconry display. But a bunch of guys blowing tuneless hunting horns didn't float my boat, and as for the really scary noise of a re-enactment of a French invasion (I think ) it not only frightened the living daylights out of me, but all the babies and toddlers around (but not my dog amazingly!) and we were at the other side of the field when they shot their muskets

Are you sure it wasn't the scurry you were watching Annie ?
I agree the admittance price of £13 per person is far too high.
I dIidn't like the horn tootlers either, I'd have thought bagpipes more in keeping with a Scottish Game Fair.

Actually the scurry dogs were better, there was one little black spaniel that reminded me very much of Charlie and it was a little star. I complimented his owner. It was a novice test though.
