Cross breedswhat is it with people crossing hpr's. In this weeks shooting times, there is an ad for spinonexbracco and you know what they have called them?....Bracconi and they are going for £495 and last week it was Sprizlers which are springers x vizsla! Can't remember if they had a price or not.

I honestly think that it has become trendy to have these crosses - for pure novelty factor. Just what I think. Also it's easier to make money off something if you give it a name.

Or it could just be accidental crosses which people are then trying to make seem intentional, so they can charge more money..??

Or is it because breeders put endorsements on their pups and people see this as away round them?

only a money spinner, people have learnt if you give things a fancy title idiots buy them for the novelty factor, the same as people giving job titles fancy names when the reality of the job is far from fancy.
I was always told that the sign of a lot of cross breeding happening was down to one of three things,
1) poor ownership ie the local mutt running around the village covering all the in season bitches used to be a lab or collie cross whose owner didn't notice the dog was wondering or didn't care.
2) the result of a mistaken cross that has been successful enough to merit continuing the cross and creating a new breed,
3) or the sign that the breed has reached saturation point and is no longer a valuable commodity.
The latter is true now of most breeds they have reached saturation point, rescue now have large numbers of dogs with little or no homes waiting list and the breed has lost its value. At the end of the day a cross between two pedigree dogs is still a cross.
