First day of the seasonWell we had a brilliant day today, 17 brace of duck, 43 brace of pheasent one woodcock 3 collared doves 1 rabbit and 1 pigeon. Ghillie went like a bomb, so much so that some of the time she was in the next field before we were.
Merlin had a lovely day at home as well, he had 1 shoe, 1 shampoo bottle and the adapter lead from Mike's camera Just cost me £15.99 for a new one.....little b....r. Do you want another one up there Bill

Hi Jan, I'm trying to have nothing to do with Brits at the moment in case I get tarred and feathered and run out of town. Belle the 'orrible Brittany went for a walk with my daughter in law, saw and heard a keenly contested school football match going on and jumped a five foot fence to join in. She's pretty good at football and is a smashing dribbler! She completely disrupted the match then jumped back over the fence and headed for home. We're all in hiding up here! Thank god nobody knows what breed it was. Belle, as usual, is completely unrepentant.
I think I'll let you keep Merlin!

Come on Jan, you wouldn't part with him. He's a lovely looking dog and
I'll bet he makes a great worker, next season.

If he lasts that long John, the rate he's going he will find himself in a HOME
Incedently there was a lovely Weimar dog there [for the first time] he worked really well, 2 years old I think. Graham, [the owner] said that he brought him from someone up in Sherwood forest ,and no, he wasn't green

New boots, feet ached like blazes, due I think to it being so dry underfoot. Several others had the same problem The day itself was really good, nice people, just the right amout of birds and the craic was good as well Ghillie has spent the day stretched out on the sofa recovering. Merlin has spent the day behaving [for once] must have read the email
