Good home available

This family has a 3 yr old Vizsla dog and are looking for a companion. Country home with their own land. Bitch prefered, up to 3 years of age but any breed considered, endorsed or no papers no problem, I can recommend.
Claire

Well I could point them in the direction of a litter of quality weim puppies whereby there are 2 left but they are males OR if they would be interested in taking on a rescue I could point them in the direction of their local weimaraner rescue area officer.

What is it they want to do with the next dog they get ? Anything specific or just a pet ? Smile

They have a 3 yr old re-homed Vizsla dog and are looking for a companion for him. It's not a working one but the next best ie at home all day. They would prefer a bitch of any HPR breed, perhaps one that hasn't made the grade in the ring or the field. If this criterea is unavailable they will have a HV pup sired by my dog. They are very kind and used to dogs who have not had the best start in life but they do have children of more than 7 years of age.
Claire

They sound a great home ! Whereabouts in the country are they ? Might be worth them having a chat with one of our area officers just to see what dogs are currently available.

There are a few gwp's which may be suitable:

Carol Madden is the person to contact for Weimaraner Rescue if they are interested - 01403 267871. She also works her weimaraners which may or may not be useful to your friends Smile

There are lots of Weims on the WCGB website for rehoming at the moment. Mostly dogs though and you say they want a bitch, already having a Viz bitch - I'm not sure if Weim rescues rehome 2 dogs of the same sex together (do they, Claire?).

Here is the site with a list of dogs:

From reading the postings I think their vizsla is a dog Josie Wink

I can't speak for club rescue, only for IWRRS (Independent Weimaraner Rescue & Re-homing Service) as they are 2 separate organisations with the same goal in mind but slightly different ways of working and I'm an area officer for IWRRS. IWRRS will rehome same sex dogs but only on very careful consideration and it is based on an individual basis. Club rescue's website is currently being revamped so not up to date, best to speak to their co-ordinators to get a correct picture of what dogs are available.

The 2 year old GWP bitch sounds a good possibility though and might be worth looking into Smile

Ooo, I don't know where I got the idea they had a bitch already, must have read too fast!

What about a GSP? Have just homed two very nice young bitches and am working on another 1 1/2 year old soon. There is also a GSP cross bitch needing a home, looks a little sweetheart.

There is a nice little gsp bitch in the rspca centre in brighton poor little sod was trying to climb out of the hole to get to say hello when I saw her Sad The conditions in brighton are appauling and to be honest i think the RSPCA should be ashamed of themselves for the condition of the kennels. She a ship over from ireland but I'd be happy to help with transportation if they'd consider her.

Other than that the WCGB has I am sure a few dogs that could do with homes and considering the current financial problems rescue are going through getting another off their books into a good home can only be a benefit for all concerned.
Margarita

To answer the question as to whether the WCGB put the same sex into a home it is very rare unless there is a big age difference. & also the ability of the new owners. Experience over too many years & the number of dogs thast I have rehomed who have been living with the same sex & ensuing problems & not breed specific

Many thanks for all the input. They now have a HWV.
I do know of a Pointer ( dare I write English ) who has been in rescue since Dec 2006. I did phone Breed rescues but they didn't seem interested. Any suggestions here?

I'm glad she's gone I felt terrible for her, we asked to take her out for a walk but the staff were typically unhelpful and I had to leave with her head stuck outside the bars of the dreadful kennel... she'llmake someone a lovely little pet or working dog.

Ruth if I'd known you lived in outwood I would have stopped and asked for directions, must have driven through there a dozen times trying to find the kennels Smile
Margarita

Tasha sorry I thought you had been to the kennels you should have called me
