I have a lovely 10 month old Hungarian Wirehaired Vizsla. I have been told that it is good for their coat to strip the hair, which I have been doing by hand.
Recently somebody gave me some advise to use a Mikki Stripping Knife, which I started using but found it awkward and seemed to cut the hairs more than strip them.
Today, I met a lovely gentleman in the park with a HWV and he recommended to me a 'Mars Coat King', which he demonstrated to me and it seemed to work wonderfully.
I went online to buy one but there are loads of different sizes. What do people think of these? What would be the best size for a HWV? I was thinking a size 12 or 16? Any advise would be welcomed.

From a "wirehair" owner (albeit more of the German kind to the Hungarian we used to have) I would have to say that the Mikki Stripping knife is dreadful and as you've found out all it does is cut the coat.
The coat king is also a tool that will cut the coat especially if used wrongly but used correctly it is a good tool for pulling out excess undercoat. I use a coat king for grooming but it's not used that regularly.
However as a "basic rule of thumb" if he is quite hairy to start with I somewhat doubt the coat is actually ready to come out at 10 months of age. If he has on the whole a shortish coat with some long, dead coloured whispy hair across his neck and back then they would be ready and if it is it will come out "very" easy.

I would say looking at her front on that her coat could be tidied quite easily by the hand stripping method - finger and thumb and pulling the dead coat out. I really cannot see her body but I cannot really think it is thick enough to warrant a coat king.
Just got to remember that if you "pull" the coat out it will take longer for it to re-grow to the same length - if you cut/clip the coat it will grow quicker and ultimately softer and thicker.
