GSP BIS winners

Now I know I am blond but I thought there has been two all breed Championship show BIS winners in GSP's - Des Flaherty's Isara dog and Roger Mann's Periwinkle - am I right GSP people ?  Very Happy

Thanks
Benboee

From one blonde to another, yes, you are 100% right. I know that someone has it on their web-site that Wooster is the only dog to have won BIS, but Wooster was actually the 2nd to win BIS with the Manns dog being the 1st.

Thanks Pam - that was exactly what I thought.   Very Happy   I know I've been to lots of shows and seen lots of groups/BIS's but I was pretty sure I've cheered on both Roger and Des to BIS  Laughing  Laughing

Hi Sharon
yep as Pam has said you are quite right  Periwinkle was the first ever BIS show winner for GSP's and Wooster was the second.

What we need now is a girlie managing to claim top spot ..  Very Happy

I have copied this from this weeks dog world breed notes for anyone who would like to read.

""I recently came across a website stating that Des Flaherty and Sue Reddyhough’s Sh Ch Isara Kurzhaar Wooster for Merganser was the only GSP ever to gain BIS at an all-breed championship show. However Wooster gained his BIS at Birmingham in 2002 was not the first to achieve such an award.
This record goes, in fact, to Val and Roger Mann’s Sh Ch Seashine Periwinkle who achieved his BIS award some years earlier – in 1995. I thought it might be helpful to give some more details about the remarkable success of this ‘once-in-a-lifetime dog’ and as a result had a chat with Val and Roger at SKC. By coincidence, Saturday’s SKC was the 13th anniversary of Periwinkle’s achievement.
Bred by Pam Burbridge, he was awarded his first CC at City of Birmingham in ’93 under Gillian Burgoin, his second from Geoff Burgon at The National and his third, and title, at Blackpool in ’94 under Roger Burns. In all he was awarded 13 CCs, eight BOBs and six RCCs. The culmination of his success came when he was awarded G1 and BIS at SKC by Ferelith Somerfield. He also achieved G1 at Border Union under Ellen Dobson and G4 at Midland Counties.
I had the pleasure of seeing Jean Bates award him DCC and BOB at Crufts in ’01 on what was, quite remarkably, his ninth birthday. He was also shortlisted in the group by Frank Kane. He was Top Male in ’99 and Top Stud in ’02.
‘Kipper’ was a truly dual purpose dog, regularly working on Val and Roger’s shoot and also elsewhere by invitation. One of the family’s proudest moments came when Roger qualified as a member of the Shooting Times’ prestigious ‘Woodcock Club.’ To qualify Roger shot a ‘left’ and ‘right’, meaning that a bird was shot to the right side and immediately after to the left with the only two cartridges available in the shotgun. This particularly memorable occasion occurred at Barningham and it was Kipper who pointed the woodcock""

I read the GSP notes yesterday & was intrigued why all the musings about this having already seen this thread? Was it not a mistake on the website? What site was it?
