Hello all!Hi to the forum.
My name is Lee and I am from Cheshire. I have just purchased my first HPR! (A brittany puppy.) I also have a springer spaniel which I work with hawks. This year I will be flying a male Finnish goshawk.
Love the forum, hope to speak to some of you soon.

Thanks for the replies.
Are there any other forum members who fly hawks over their HPRs?

I will be when this delinquent of mine comes of age. Her sire and dam are both falconry dogs so it would be rude not to give it a go.

Thanks for the welcome.
I am no dog expert and when the breeder talked me through the familly tree, showing me all the field champions and infamous breeders, It was all double Dutch to me.
Only had him a couple of days, will register him tomorrow and get the pedigree sent to me. I can tell you when I get it. Perhaps some of you folks can tell me if he is really of such good working lines as I have been told.
Thanks. Lee

Unfortunately we don't have the Irish dogs on our data base but they come down from the original dogs brought in by Stan Smith our Founder(Dorvalstan). A few other lines in there too - depends what is immediately behind Oliver and Nikita.
Brittanys are held in high regard by Austringers and we have 4 falconers on the Club Committee - hope you'll come to our Le Weekend first Fri/Sat/Sun in October - we have a falconry display on Saturday, training on cold game and water on Friday afternoon, various events Saturday(incl mini working test), Champ show Sunday. Bring the wee fella along but can only compete when 6 months. Info will be out next month - Join the Club and it'll be sent out to you along with an info leaflet.

Hi Lee and welcome to the forum . I used to work my Brittany for guys with various hawks and falcons, I can't say I know much about the birds but I liked the dogwork. The Brit bitch I worked took to working with birds of prey like a duck takes to water. She struck up a great partnership with an Ameican Red Tailed Hawk on her first time out with the hawks and between them they accounted for a hell of a lot of rabbits , one rather unlucky and out of season cock pheasant and one mallard which was even unluckier than the pheasant !
Does nobody teach birds of prey what game is in season ?
Good luck with your brit , they are good fun, good workers but hard work too !

Hi Lee and welcome.
If your pup is from the litters that were for sale at the recent falconry fair at Chetwynd, then I seem to recall that there was a fair bit of de St Lubin and de Keranlouan in their pedigrees, both are top French kennels. If they are then Patricia on the Britanny Club forum is the person to tell you more. I have dogs with similar lines and they work like nothing I've had before - enjoy!!!

You can download a membership form and bank mandate from the site but you will need two club members to sign it for you.
If you look at the list of Committee member you can see if there is someone near you and get in touch to see their dogs. Any of us will be happy to sign your form since it could take a while to send it to David & Sophie, but you could do that if you wish. I'll email David anyway to suggest he tells his new puppy buyers about the Club.

Welcome Lee what a lovely puppy
I've ran my dogs with gos and harris but I have never actually owned any "hawks" as such - too much hard work to what I've already got to do. Loved the experience and so did the dogs

Not sure of the birth date. Will that be on the pedigree when I receive it?
That is a lovely bitch you have there.
Thanks again to everybody for the positive feed back.
Lee.
