Hello from FIFEHello everyone
I have been on here before, but not for a longtime, life has been pretty hectic.
Things have calmed down and hopefully will be able to join in your chats on a more regular basis.
We still have GWP's 6 of them, we have also now have 2 Border Terriers, one from showlines (big mistake) and one from working lines, the difference in the two is quite unbelievable.
Look forward to chatting to all.

Hi Trace, welcome back
With 6 GWPs I'm not surprised life is hectic
I'm interested in the difference between the show and working border terriers - how are they different?

Hi Josie
they certainly keep us busy, but wouldnt have it any other way.
Our first Border Terrier who is now 18 month old is off show lines and he is stumpy, grumpy and boring to be honest (I love him dearly) but he is old before his time. We have just had another a bitch from working lines andshe is atheletic, full of energy, frightened of nothing, superb coat, and very keen to get down a hole.
I must admit having the new one has brought the other one out of his shell, so we are hoping he will work. I dont know an awful lot about Borders but the difference in the two is very obvious.

Hi and welcome back. I think you were on this forum long before me. How do you manage to train 6 G.W.P.'s ? I'm knackered with just two G.S.P.'s

I have only trained our bitches, our two male wires are deer dogs and hubby trains them.
Two bitches practically trained themselves as they are so natural, hunting etc just seemed to happen, all I have done is add the whistle, esp our youngest bitch Saker, she is really a natural and very biddable with it too. The other two bitches well one was challenging to say the least adn think she knows best (annoying thing is she usually is right) and the other is a pain in the ass and I have really give up on her, she is a mans dog and just gives me the finger but she has a lovely wirey face

Hi Ann
How are you? longtime no speak. Oh yes the wonderful Connie
She is wonderful just a hunting machine, that is always three drives ahead of the rest of us. She has actually matured really well and is quite a handy little dog now. George was looking for a stud dog for her, any ideas.

Yes, he's been in touch - my young bobtail may be suitable - I told George and Linda to have her hips scored first - a pre-requirement in our breed. Won't get a stud dog without that.
I'm trying to train Allez just now but keep getting thwarted by falling over gates, slipping on ice etc. Just about got full use of my knee back but a little wary in the mud we have up here so still not had him out on birds yet. Hoping to put out some feeders to encourage next door's ones in
Hope to see you sometime - have you seen Pat's new wire? Willow. Seems nice temperament and works (not that Pat's able to work her unfortunately)

I've got a nice black tricolour dog who is a bob tail as well. Bit young at the moment and his hips need scoring but he is practising like mad and very willing [and if he don't get off my leg he won't need his hips doing cause he won't get the chance to do anything else ]

I think we are out with George at the weekend at the Duke of Fifes estate, I will ask him if he has had her hips done.
