Hi Judy and welcome. Is Maggie spayed? I only ask because they tend to put on weight a lot quicker, and don't lose the weight so easily if they have been spayed. The only thing to do if cutting down on her food isn't working is to change the amount of protein and fats in her food. I'm not a nutritionalist, but the more 'good' food a dog gets and doesn't use up the easier it is for it to put on weight (a bit like humans really and yes I include myself in that - I'm a couple of stones overweight )

Hi Judy, my old G.S.P. is speyed and would be a right old barrel if I let it happen! She gets barely half the food (same food) as my 11month old G.S.P. dog pup but still manages to keep some of her fat.

Hi Judy and welcome. We have 2 Brittany bitches (and an elderly Weimaraner). The 11 year old is speyed and needs only half the food our 5 year old does!

Welcome to the board.
It can be difficult to keep weight off them when they have been spayed. It can be done but you have to keep on eye on their food intake.
