Hi ! Hellooo,Coming from Another Country

I have been looking at some wonderful pictures of German Wire Haired Pointers All over the World and I have been looking at one called Bareve Beersterkraal who has attained Full Title of Champion. Please what does that mean ? Since I am not acquainted with the English System please enlighten me.What does a person Need to Do to Get a Full Title ? I am so Confused with changing Rules and Regulations here where I live, even though wee are affiliated to KCI etc etc. Your Knowledge and Help in the Matter would help. What does it mean That a Dog has to be "Steady" ?  Steady in Mind or Steady in Body ? Going Steady ?Or Just Swaggering and Not Staggering ? What Does it All Mean ??
What is Steady ?????
I am just a novice to words in the Dog World compared to Experts like you.
Would love to learn.Slowly and Steadily.
Thank You.

Hi Gunston, welcome to the forum.
A full Champion is a dog/bitch that has won 3 Challenge Certificates or CCs in the showring [thus becoming a Show Champion] and then gone on to gain an award in the shooting field [trials or Show Gundog Working Certificate] which lets you drop the Show bit from the title ie; making the dog a 'full' Champion.

We refer to a dog as being steady if it doesn't run in when pointing a bird and sits to shot rather than chasing after said bird Exclamation . There will be people on here who can explain it better but basically that is what it means Very Happy

Thank you so much with your Explanation about Titles,Sitting, Dropping and all that. Thankfully we don't have that problem here since my Dogs Hunt from a Very Early Age and we do not have Field Trials here. Here we Only Have Trials in the Field, and many errors.
Please Excuse me,But what do you mean that you Do not not Know what the Other Half is when you refer to a Cat / Is a Cat Not One Whole Cat ?
Which is the Other Half ? The Front or the Behind or Sideways ? This English Language is Very Confusing.

I did not ask you earlier,But what did you mean Run In when Pointing Bird  and just sits In ? English Pointers do Not Sit down while Pointing,Do Gwps Sit while pointing ?
You are really helpful in giving me wisdom with word and I am truly grateful.

Hi Gunston, welcome to the forum and the perils of communicating in English!  Do you have GWPs?

When Jan referred to a steady dog which does not run in this is a dog which remains steady on point until the handler reaches it.  The dog should then flush but not chase the bird/game animal and in the UK it is usual to train the dog to sit or drop to flush so that the chase does not happen.  It is also usual to train the dog to sit to shot, this is for safety reasons as much as anything.
