hip scores

can anyone recommend a vet in the east hants / west Sussex / south surrey area for a hip radiograph under sedation rather than anesthetic?
josie

Guy you should def use Marilyn, she is one of the top recommended hip scorers in the UK and people drive from all over the place to use her, and she's right in your area too. And she uses sedation, not GA. She scored Slate (3/3) and Mike took Harley there too. I will PM you her number.

I prefer sedation for x-rays too, but for anything else remember there is an antidote for anasthaesia but not for sedation - or so I was told anyway. Anybody know different?

Annie there is also an antidote for sedation and as soon as the vet is happy with the x-ray they inject the antidote straight away. Each dog varies with regards to how much they "go under" as such one of my bitches enjoyed the sleep and had to have a good slap on her bum to wake her up and yet her smaller companion I took never did shut her eyes at all during the whole procedure - both had the same amount of sedation.

I found Peter Janes (Bromsgrove) very good and far easier to organise appointment times with him. I got fed up with Marilyn cancelling my appointments so I rang Peter and had an appointment within the week.

When I had my first LM Hip xrayed, I opted for sedation as a couple of LMs had not come out of GA at the time. Typical of that bitch she fought it and it took three times the dosage much to the amusement of the vets.
The upside was she virtually slept for two days only going out to do her business.....the quietest two days of my life Wink I even asked if I could have some on perscription Shocked Laughing Laughing
Modern anestetics have come along way since then though so now I let my vet decide which to do.

I'd recommend the person recommended by Josie too but I wouldn't bandy her name around too much she doesn't like it.
