don't mention the rugby i think the french done you guys a great service, had we won yesterday the more physical game would have set the allblacks up for a english loss as well, you had a great win against aussie.
use my dogs on all game here, including deer and wild pigs we have a large family farm with good numbers of birds.

As an English supporter I have to admit your not wrong
Put it down to wearing the `wrong' strip, the semi-blacks just doesn't have the same effect
I would be interested in hearing how you work your dogs on`wild pigs', as wild boar are becoming increasingly common again in this country and any dog reactions and observations could be useful.

with the gwp they love pighunting and are easy to train on them, part of the breeds makeup is boar hunting so i guess this is why, they also have a natural ability to indicate deer in heavy bush and restrain any wounded animal....they really are the jack of all trades in my book.

Hi Kiwi,
How does the dog indicate the presence of `Pig', Is it a classic point, rear leg point , staunch stand or something else ( Or does the wire just b****r in after it )

being able to read your dog will tell you what the dog wants to do when out hunting and you come across fresh pigsign, a pig out in the open and seen will be chased on site, but if it's a pup young dog they will point it, this only lasts til they have had a few pigs, after that you have to keep them in as the first reaction is to go find it, just like a normal pigdog.
a simple "nooooo" and get in works unless you want to catch a pig of cource i often end up with a pig while out chasing roosters.

Can you write up a description of a pighunt Kiwi?
I'm sure everyone would be interested to see how it is done and the role the dogs play.

Helen & Kiwi,
I've split this post as it was too interesting and off topic to leave in this forum!
