Next ?Is it true bitches are meant to be easier to train than dogs? What are your views would you rather have a dog? Or bitch? Or does it really matter?!

In my limited experience of training (or should I say - trying to train ) both bitch and dog , I would say in my case the bitch was easier to train so far. My dog is very headstrong and full of drive which I found quite hard to control with my limited experience. My bitch is the complete opposite , she is very laid back and biddable and very obedient but lacks the drive and desire which my dog has in abundance.
I think it comes down to genetics to be honest but personally I would go for a dog over a bitch for many different reasons (I won't bore you with them all) but I found that bitches seem to go through alot of ups and downs , especially during seasons. This makes training quite difficult when the bitch is out of sorts what with all the hormones raging. Maybe I have just been unlucky...............
I know people who swear by bitches and others that prefer a dog - each to their own I guess !!

We have 1 dog, and 8 bitches and I have to say, I haven't seen any difference between the dog and bitches. He went through a bad adolescence but came out of it very well. He's a fantastic worker and was easy to train - before and after his adolescence. Teal, has been pretty much the same to train and had her adolescence a little later. I thought she matured a little later than Harvey. They are both gwp's.
Springers, all of mine have been different and I've only had bitches.
The one thing with bitches are the seasons - unless you spay them.
I do think it's down to personal preference, as Barry says.

I have my first bitch for years now after several dogs and havent found her any easier, she is a big daddies girl even though I am the one who trains and works her which can be a pain to the extent that at a working test last year she went to him in the gallery with the retrieve

I have found that my setter and ess bitches have been easier to train as they are eager to please and have tended to pick things up easily. I have only had one dog - and he is stubborn with an air of arrogance, pushing my very limited patience to the limit - mind you he is a Brittany!! Sallie

Seeing as I have only just started training with my male then I can't really comment but I do know that it has been blooming hard work!! But we are throughly enjoying it anyway! he is so keen and has picked stuff up quite quickly! It's me that's harder to train not him!
