Question for Roy 'Lynn'Just read this post.....
Helen Phillips lives just a couple of miles from me, although I didnt know of her before, my friend introduced me to her by way of booking a days training with Helen, we both went along to her house with our two vizzies. She taught us the basics of clicker training and I was amazed at how both our dogs picked it up immediately. Helen is a calm and patient person, nothing is negative in her training and she quickly gets what she want from her pupils both dog and handler. I would definately recommend her training methods. Whats more, both our dogs, who have completely different personalities loved every minute of it, they were wagging their tails and really enjoying themselves. I think it is a good way of training our breed as they have a very strong desire to please but can also be very sensitive, they cannot mistake the click, as click means yes. There are no grey areas with clicker training.
Lynn
.....and was wondering does she do classes or just one to one and whether you could give me the contact details for Helen as I think I'd like to give it a go?
Thanks
Deb

Hi, I'm not the Roy or Lynn, but yes Helen does do classes - she runs the gundog training part of the Learning About Dogs clicker training team. Classes are in Gloucestershire. For more info see their website: http://www.learningaboutdogs.com/acatalog/spows.html

Thanks for the info Josie. It says that the gundog training is for people who have clicker training experience, which I have not, so will have to do some research and practice before taking the course.

Hi - It's worth keeping an eye on the website because not all the gundog courses need you to have prior knowledge of clicker training - there is an "Introduction to Clicker Gundog" which is run and needs no clicker training knowledge. It may just be that there isn't one of those scheduled in the next few months.
Otherwise, you'd need to do the CAP1 workshop, and the CAP2 workshop first (have a look under workshops) before you can progress to the gundog courses which require CAP2. It's definitely worth doing this anyway, because you improve your clicker training skills no end and then you go on and apply them to gundog work once you've figured out the clicker.
