Our 1st classMe and Tia had our 1st gun dog class today and i loved it i think she did too.
only 6 people so nice and small.
We started with some heel work! ours wasnt that good! then a marked retrieve which she was fab at, then a blind one she needed a bit of encouragement but she did it!
so im very please with her!
she is fast asleep now.
Oh whats that word HI something??? some peeps kept using it today and i forgot all ready

I use 'there' when Allez is close to where I think the bird/dummy is - is that different from Hi lost?

It does not matter what command you use Annie as long as the dog understands what you mean. I use "there , there" too Annie but most handlers I know use the "Hie-lost" command , I think it is a universal command especially amongst Labrador people.

I like 'there' becasue I can vary the tone, length of the word etc to encourage him more. By the way, he is now cantering back - but only with a real bird. I just can't get him to get up much enthusiasm for dummies no matter what I cover them with.

It's down to being consistent again isn't it? You can use any word or phrase as long as the dog associates it with the task you want it to undertake.

I used to use 'find it there' with Abbie so I suppose it was the word 'there' that she picked up .

Holly's the same but she is a lot better when I wind her up and run around the field like an idiot with the dummy (which has to be covered in rabbit fur).

Unfortunately the girls emptied my game bag one afternoon while I was out with Allez and I came back to naked green canvas dummies with a room full of feathers and no rabbit skin - wonder where that went
