This evening (22nd April 2006) I received some sad news from Anne Massie, Treasurer of the Brittany Club of Great Britain. I have repeated the text of her message below.

"This afternoon the husband of our Club President passed away in hospital after a short illness. Peter and Margaret Green were at the forefront of establishing the Brittany in the UK, and Pete was very much a hands on shooting man and dog trainer. He did not trial his dogs, preferring to take them working on his own syndicate. Margaret has been President of the Brittany Club of Great Britain for a number of years and both of them are very dear friends of mine. They helped my late husband and I establish our own kennel lines with stock from France. Pete was also a CC Judge.

All of us involved in running the forum would all like to express our sympathy and condolences to Mrs. Green and all of Peter Green's relatives and friends.

Peter Green was a founder member of Coventry & District Gundog Society Working Section. He was always active in promoting the working gundog and from his enthusiasm grew one of the biggest working gundog clubs in the country. Although long retired and having left the Midlands area he was always keen to be kept up to date with the HPR events. I would like to think that it is a fine tribute to him that Coventry not only has a thriving retriever and spaniel sections but has an HPR group training over 35 dogs this season.

Our condolences go to his wife and fond thoughts for a man who has been instrumental in so many people coming to a greater understanding and enjoyment of their working gundogs.

So sorry to hear this news...

I had first had the pleasure to meet Peter and Magaret in France in 2001 at the Epagneul Breton National Specialty in Soissons.
It was fun to sit at ringside as we all made comparisons as to our selections.

Peter will be missed.
