Each bitch is different, usually 6 or 7 months of age start, then 6 or 7 months apart - so it doesn't depened on the seasons of the year, it is in the individual bitch's cycle from birth. Jan's bitch has unfortunately had an adverse reaction to Delvosteron - she hasn't come back into a proper season since coming off it.

Jan's bitch has seen what puppies get up to and is keeping her legs crossed. Boy is she going to get a shock when I get another pup [soon I hope]

Is your brittaney not breeding a genetic thing or does it just not like the male race! tut tut

I had her on Delvosterone for about three years as I had a dog here that had been used at stud and I didn't want to upset him as he was elderly and not very well. Also I had no intention of breeding from Ghill. However when my GWP died I had second thoughts and stopped the delvosterone at the same time [or thereabouts] that Annie took her bitch off it. Her dratted animal came into season and produced pups, Ghill had a clear season, that was a year ago last January and she has not been in season since. I wouldn't mate her now and in fact I have booked a pup but, knowing Brittanys, as soon as I get the pup home Ghill will come roaring into season [just because Brittanys are like that ]

Do you "book" pups from yourself then?

All will be revealed in the fullness of time

She has 'booked' a pup from THREE people!!!!!!
I think it's called 'hedging your bets'. She'll have a look at the first litter - if nothing suitable in that go on to the next one, and so on - till she gets to Allez and Freckles early next year

I do wish you wouldn't do this.....it was going to be a surprise. I was trying to hang it out as long as possible. Mind you if there is nothing suitable till next year I suppose it will be hanging it out as long as possible

Hi Jan, this is off subject a bit but I once went to look at a part trained lab. with a friend who was thinking of buying it. A wood pigeon was thrown in the back- garden of the seller. It landed about 15 feet from the hedge. The lab. was sent and refused to pick it, the seller called it back to heel and said he'd send her again. Before he could do so a cat darted out of the hedge grabbed the pigeon and made off with it!
My friend turned down the dog and asked if he could buy the cat instead
We were asked to leave by a very disgruntled labrador owner

Awwww - in that last photo, the one on the right is just like my Freckles, who is to be renamed Houdini. How she is getting out of the field and back in again 2 hours later is anybody's guess. I've been right round it three times. Needless to say she always does it when I'm in a hurry - like tonight, making me so late for a Board meeting that they had locked the door, so I missed it altogether.
