The Patter of Tiny Paws

A few weeks ago we had a trip over to Germany so that 'the Pink' - Inca (Tarkanya Lytas Lassie) could have a 'play' with her betrothed - a lovely german lad.  It was love at first sight (and second).   Yesterday we went down to Cambridge for a scan, not that I had any doubts after the rather peculiar behaviour she has been exhibiting lately!  It was confirmed that she is expecting the patter of lots of tiny paws around the middle of April  Very Happy

Lovely news Karen - I am so pleased for you.   Fingers crossed that the rest of her pregnancy goes well and the pups make a happy entrance into the world.  Smile

Great news. Lots of pics is a must!!

I know when I mated Pagan from the day she was mated she was acting so weird & out of character really that there was never any doubt she wasn't pregnant.

Ooo, congrats!

Sounds good Karen, well done. Is this a new German sire or has he progeny in the UK?
Rhimad

"Is this a new German sire or has he progeny in the UK?"

He's not been used here before though he has the same male topline as Alex vd Lippe that Christine and I used in 2000

Good luck Karen! Hope it all goes as well as hoped Smile

Ooh, exciting. Congratulations.

Excellent news Karen. I guess that will make Otter an Uncle, or maybe Great Uncle (he is a Tarkanya to). I hope they inherit his wonderful temperment but less of his lunacy (though I think that is down to his trainer -oops  Embarassed )

Good luck with the birth Karen - I admire your determination, having done this myself I know how hard it can be.  We drove through driving hail, rain and snow, freezing temperatures and had a horrid sea crossing - hope your journey was better.

Maxine
lagopuslagopus

Thanks to everybody for your good wishes.  We were lucky Maxine and had a good journey and apart from the icy starts in the morning it was like spring.  Inca should have nearly two weeks to go - I'm sure she will have exploded by then!  Never having had a litter before it's a bit scary.
Greyghost

Congrats.  Can't wait to see the pics.  Will you be making little collars for them out of your lanyards, bit like knitting bootees really Laughing

You will be fine Karen  Smile
Ghilliegumdrop

Think of all those nappies Karen....and the midnight feeds, I hope you have bought a BIG bottle sterilizer Wink  Wink
lagopuslagopus

I really hope Jan that there are not going to be as many as Helen thinks there may be!  I've told Inca that 9 would be quite a nice number as long as they are mostly little pink ones.  As for sleepless nights - I don't sleep very well anyway but I have got a mattress downstairs in the puppy room ready!  Sterilizer?  We'll have to make do with a bucket if we need one unless my daughter has got any of the self sterilizing bottles left from her last baby, now they were a good invention.  I'm not going to need different coloured collars either as they will all be different patterns so I'll know who is who! (I hope).

I make that 7 Rolling Eyes
lagopuslagopus

Josie - 16 pink paws = 4 and 12 blue paws = 3!

They were all around 500g which is why there were only 7 I guess but I'd much rather that than what I had been threatened with!    No need to bottle feed and  they are more than spoken for (hopefully).  Inca started at 1.55am and was all finished by 7.10.  Really calm throughout and quite relaxed.  It was just us really who couldn't decide if there were any more.  They all started to suckle immediately and are really strong.  She's such a clever girl.

Duh, maths was never my strong point!!!!

It's not unusual to make this mistake - Richard told me that they were all dogs in Allez's litter.  Three of them changed sex in the middle of the night to become little girls.

This happens quite a lot with kittens Rolling Eyes  One litter of Burmese that I bred and advertised this know all woman came along and chose her little girl so she could breed a litter when the kitten was old enough. Despite being told it was a male she insisted that she knew it was a girl and took it....Several days later she rang up to say her vet had said it wasn't what she had bought and could she come and change it. As the others had all gone by then the answer was no, I did point out that she was the one who had chosen the kitten and said it was a girl. She huffed a bit but did conceed that it was her own fault and agreed to keep him, just as well I got anyone who bought a kitten from me to sign a form to say the kitten was what they wanted etc Rolling Eyes

My clock must be wrong on here it was an hour later.  Should I have changed something with the clocks?  I just decided to get up when Geoff got up for a change.

I haven't a clue - I just supposed Inca or the puppies had woken you up so you got up to deal with them Smile
BritAnnie

You are supposed to go into your profile and change from GMT to GMT+1 or vice versa.  I can never remember which it should be so I tend to leave it sometimes.

The proud mum at 12 days.  They are now walking around and eyes are beginning to open.

We are 19 days old today.  The front has been taken off of our box and we have our first taste of freedom.

Aw bless them - what a lovely pic.
Martyn

How did you manage that picture? - I find it problematic getting a picture of one dog.

Of course - you have already started training them  - sit stay this week - retrieving next week Very Happy

Hi Martyn.  Just blew the whistle and they all sat in a row Wink  Wink  Wink

Is there a preference (in general) about having the blaze or not? iyswim!

Karen, it wouldn't surprise me  Shocked

Helen, regarding a blaze, there is nothing wrong in it, but most people tend to want a solid black head. The standard actually calls for a solid black head, blaze or snip allowed. Looking at the pic I think that most of the white will disappear. Possibly leaving a nice silvery looking blaze, or a muzzle that gives it the look of an older dog. LOL.
Rhimad

What a lovely picture, they are gorgeous puppies
Helen

Thanks Linda.  I was just wondering as I don't think I've seen many LM with white blazes but if they are going to more silvery, that's probably why lol.

Have to say, my favourite is the one in the middle.

Helen
Greyghost

Awww lovely pic Karen and so well trained already Wink  Laughing

I hadn't looked at it in tha way Annie!

Yes   I like two heads eight legs one body and could make a fortune showing it off and charging a viewing fee.   Laughing
lagopuslagopus

One of the chaps having a puppy brought a collared dove with him yesterday so we had a play.

She got more than she bargained for but I'll let her tell you all about that in due course
Benreeda

I thought at first the dove was living till I saw photo and did wonder how you could play with it.  What an idiot.
By the way I have 52 legs 13 heads 13 tails   What do I have apart from a nervous breakdown?
BritAnnie

You have 13 well bred GWP babies that I can't wait to see photos of.  If I'd still been 'oop nath' I'd have been over like a shot as soon as you said they could be seen.  And no, I'm not having one - I have enough on my plate. Bet they'll be great workers and temperament with those lines, as well as good lookers Laughing
Greyghost

What a confident looking little pupster.  Not long before they leave home is it???
lagopuslagopus

Not long at all - the time has just flown by.
Benreeda

the pup is really smart.  That is a great photo

Benreeda - Congratulations.  You'll have your hands full with that lot!
Benreeda

thanks.  We have shared them out so three of us feeding.  They are strong and sucking well.  My daughter phoned last night to say that one had climed out of the box and then others followed.  Can't believe it. They are now5 days today.  I think some of the problems with Willow was we didn't have her as a pup or train her so she is not used to doing everything she is told.   Our bitches would just stand still whatever and let pups suck.  Never had this before.  She has a wonderful temperament so can't complain as this was very worrying for her.  She is back to her usual self and quite happy!
Liz

Glad the babes are doing well, Pat.
lagopuslagopus

This is mainly for Helen so you can see how the white has changed on their faces so far.  They will still go darker.  They will be seven weeks on Friday and some of them are going to their new homes.

Linda W

Now I'm getting broody  Wink

I just love the way the colour changes on munster puppies.

Oh well, maybe next year........ Confused
Benreeda

One of our bitch puppies died and we are really upset.  These things happen but isn't easy after one week.  Would post photo's but don't know how to.
lagopuslagopus

Sorry to hear that.  Are you having to hand feed them all or are they with the bitch now?
Dave A

Benreeda

Sorry to hear about the lose of your pup, I Didn't quite catch what you were trying to say in your previous post. Has your bitch failed to feed the pups  and are you  hand rearing ? I had a problem with a bitch that had been brilliant,Then she wouldn't feed them and walked about with a pup in her mouth all the time , It turned out to be eclampsia (i think thats how you spell it ).
