Well there are at least three of you now (and I'm sure there are a few more in the area) so why not get together and organise something
Lynn

I have the land but we need someone to impart their knowledge Laughing
magyar viz

Sorry Barry (for the highjack)
lynn i think we need to find out how many people with hpr's in linc's area & what type of training & what knowledge we  know (or dont) I know of a possible 3  Confused  Shocked  Laughing

I'm not far from Kings Lynn but would happily come up to you Lynn. I have been going up to Leeds for training every month for the last 6 mths and think you are a lot nearer than that. Have you tried approaching any breed clubs or trainers to find anyone willing to give lessons. From speaking to the trainer we had in Leeds finding land seems to be the biggest problem so I would have thought if you can provide that we might be able to find a trainer. Do you have water on your land?
Lynn

we have water with an island and varying entries. I've only about five acres in summer to use but there are  hilly and flat and rough areas. What I don't have is time to organise as I am the Treasurer of the LMC and the FT sec. I am just about organised out Laughing But you are welcome Wink

Am I missing something Confused There hasn't been any HPR "group" training in Lincolnshire for nearly fifteen years Evil or Very Mad I agree Rory Major is a fantastic trainer but regular group training is so very useful.
Any way - Good luck with your new pup - Enjoy!

No Lynn not a formal group as such but considering you have Rory and Trevor Rigby isn't that many miles away plus lots of ground and lots of enthusiastic people I'm pretty sure you are certainly better off than me  Laughing  Laughing

Nearest helper 45 mins away, nearest HPR trainer 1hour and half away, nearest group one hour away.  Laughing  Laughing  Laughing

HPR's in Lincs

I'm N Lincs with HWV's and would love  to get together. Have  been  to Rory and Trevor in the past and have organised days for the breed club members and more recently for HWV owners. Any excuse for a bit of training and sharing of experience.

Whereabouts in Lincs is the land that is available please?

Diane

I think Lynn is in Spilsby or somewhere around there. Wow, it looks like we could have ourselves a little group forming. That would be great.
Lynn

Between Spilsby and Horncastle.
Sharon, its the group training that is so missing Sad  When I first moved here in 1987 the GSPC had a training group, then Lindum gundogs, but for at least 15 years, nothing that I am aware of. I know we are well off for professional trainers, though not neccessarily "well off finacially to take advantage Crying or Very sad but for young dogs, I think, group training is very very important. Also for Novice handlers the thought of a group is sometimes less intimidating than one to one.
Bareve

Lynn I've sent you a PM but I'm not sure if you've picked it up yet. Very Happy

Hands up who's good at getting things organised & has the time  Shocked
shirley cooper

I would make time (somehow) and am fairly well organised but I am very much a novice in gundog handling. I would gladly help in any way I can if we have someone who can take the training on a regular basis. (or maybe a few someones)
josie

I think Les (Greyghost) has just moved to Lincolnshire and is interested in doing some gundog training.  Haven't seen her on here recently, but you could send her a PM.

Yes, she's in the Grantham area isn't she?
Greyghost

Yaaaay, just caught up with this post.  I'm up for it and have plenty of time  to help organise, just so long as I don't have to do any motorway driving Confused .

I've been lurking Jo Wink

Hello Barry and welcome.  You're not too far from me. Smile
Greyghost

I have sent out pm's to the five interested parties so check your messages guys Wink .

I may be able to sort out a trainer too - watch this space.  Will know more after our committee meeting tomorrow.

And this is where I have to put a disclaimer that anything I say or do does not reflect in any way on the Weimaraner Association. Very Happy

I've just sent you one now Sharon. Very Happy   It is a bit of a hike into Lincs but not mileage wise but because the roads are slow it takes me about an hour to Rory say, from Grantham. Confused
weima

I'd be interested in training Wink
Greyghost

I've added you to the list Claire.  Will send you an email out with all the contacts on it to keep you in the loop.
Greyghost

I decided to ring a few local farmers this morning to see if any of them had any land we could actually RUN our dogs on.  Trust me to land myself in the deep end and find myself talking to a top trialler with Labs and a judge to boot.  LOL.  This is her: Staindrop at CLA

You're still better off than we are in North Wales Sharon  Laughing
Greyghost

One of the farmers just came back to me and said we could use his 4/5 acre paddock (cut) whenever we wanted it for a bottle of whisky.  Just off the A1 at Grantham.

Any good to us????

Do you think we should start a new thread instead of hijacking this one anymore Embarassed
shirley cooper

Maybe we should start a new thread, good news from farmer Smile
Lynn

some photos of my land - to give you an idea

Greyghost

Enough land there to knacker me Lynn Laughing   Looks fab Very Happy .

When shall we have our first meet then???
Greyghost

Over here guys.  Seems we kept the pic of little Wes Very Happy
josie

I think it's possible to put the pic of Wes back but I can't remember how to merge it with another thread.  Someone else...?
Lynn

try to work out 2 or 3 alternatives (preferably afternoons) that would suit most of you and I'll sort out this end out Laughing Hilly land always seems larger than flat areas Wink you will need to involve someone who is prepared to train us from the beginning or the dogs will run around in ever INcreasing circles while the humans run around in ever DEcreasing circles Rolling Eyes

Laughing Any news on a day yet lynn, Les, not able to get to the CLA as we have to work Fri-Sun, Crying or Very sad wanted to get new boots as well!

Hello everyone I live in Worksop North Notts and would love to make another if you have the room for 1 more. I have a 7 month old GWP, so far done 2 W/T with Jack and would love to be part of any HPR training in lincs.
Greyghost

I didn't go to CLA either but I did get another Weimaraner. Shocked   Nearly 2 years old, lovely boy.  That should give me something to train. Very Happy  Very Happy   Will post some pics later.

No idea Den, I'm waiting for someone to tell me Wink
Greyghost

I've just sent out an email to everybody.  I have just spoken to Chris Snelling who is a trainer recommended by Suzi Burton.  He has suggested we get together sometime in September (but not 2nd Sundays in the month) but, as explained in my email, if you want to try for August we can give it a go.
