Wow, well done!
I'll say this in a very quiet voice - Harvey failed his bronze lol. He wouldn't do the down stay as it was something that I had never taught him to do. That's my excuse and I'm sticking with it lol.

Well done Jo!
One should celebrate each and every achievement in life, one never knows what is around the corner.
So be proud and share.
Have you told Margaret and Ruth so that it can go in the Breed notes column of Our Dogs and Dog World?
If you let the eds of Grey Matters and Weimaraner News know they will put it in there too.

Thanks guys No idea who I should tell to get it listed in the mags!
It was a bit stressful as they did the silver and bronze people and then it was just us with 2 examiners, so there was no hiding anything!!!!!

Oh, but it seems so boastful to ask people to print something like that, I just feel too awkward!!!!! Maybe will wait till we actually achieve something worthwhile (if ever!!)
|

Why do you think it is boasting?
If no one wrote in to the breed notes of Dog World/Our Dogs or the breed club newsletters there would be nothing in them (which is often the case).
As Margaret Holmes said in a recent breed notes comment, it is not boasting it is news!
Also, if you think about it, the more people read about others successes the more likely they are to be successful themselves.
Unfortunately there are far too many "experts" around (ie trainers/behaviourists/vets) who have preconceived ideas about certain breeds and their abilities and talents.
Often new owners believe this "twaddle" when it is patently not the case.
Be proud of your dog and yourself and your achievements, whatever the field and be a role model for others.
Success in ANY field is surely of value or why bother to have your dog "tested" at all?
If I believed everything people told me about my dog/breed I would never have got off the sofa!

Naughty, naughty... A gold good citizens award is definately "something worthwhile" in my book Allyson probably has an idea of the number of dogs who get it each year? I am guessing it isn't loads of them.....

I will put something on the WA website for you if you drop me a quick line about it! I have recently put a short article about someone who started doing the KC Good citizen and ended up on the cover of Dog Training weekly.
Go on Jo, be an inspiration for others

Ok, you've convinced me now
Especially the bit about certain breeds - it just seems over the past few weeks that wherever I go, people tell me that Weims are out of control and unmanageable.
The 2 examiners were dog wardens for the council and they were telling me how many Weims end up in Rescue because people can't deal with them and how difficult they are - and they said they were a bit gobsmacked after our test. I was really angry they thought that, it always Ps me off, so I showed them a few tricks to end with!! So I hope I've dispelled a little bit of the Weim myth in East Sussex!
