Wednesday Beating

We had a good day.

Mugi was hunting on a cheek wind and this time he was moving well although I was having to hang back from the line to give him space to work without pushing him too far forward, he found a nice small covey of partridge and they pushed into the next cover crop in a tidy manner so although I was told off for not being in the right place I was able to radio in to point out where Mugi was and was let off Laughing .

He also did not mess up on the pheasant drives which he finds highly stimulating, we had to hold the birds in and work maize adjacent to the woodland and he flushed the birds really steadily.

At the end of the drive I let him run in with the picking up dogs to clear a patch of land. This is the first time we have been allowed to help, he didn't find anything as he wasn't quick enough but he showed a good work ethic and managed with the labs hurtling around him so he is going to be allowed to try picking up if I can get his retrieve a little more reliable. I would love him to be able to help pick up next year (even if well away from the main areas) as I think he may find regular beating a little too physical.

By the end of the day I ached all over and now am off sick with a nasty cold so a few days of rest for everyone is in store.

It isn't 'flu - you lot are just such wimps Wink  We women carry on stoically looking after the dogs and the kids, doing the housework, and the shopping for food, while if you get it you take to your beds.Laughing and need constant attention, hot drinks, medication etc Wink
