Hello All,

Herewith a pic of my 2 Brittanies, George (the black one) and Ginger, on a guineafowl shoot. It was BITTERLY cold, -6degC in the morning. My dogs thought it a good idea to go for a swim and for the first time ever I saw a dogs coat freeze over completely. Madness. Anyway, the day warmed up to about 10degC and they are no less for wear.

That's better, Thanks. Nice photo. Ginger's retrieving sorted out now? I think you were lucky the dogs didn't suffer with hypothermia Rolling Eyes

Hi Annie, Jan,

Her retreiving is much better. I think me backing off completely has made the world of difference.

South Africa can get hellish cold. We dont have the snow/sleet/ wet like you guys have, but I have been in -11degC. See picture below when I hunted at above 3000m altitude, if I recall correctly, it hovered below 5degC at midday.

A year or so ago some friends went antilope hunting and it was warmer inside the walk in freezers than outside, so thats where they slept. Unbelievable.

Regards,

The above photograph looks as if it could have been taken on a stretch of Scottish moorland. When I first looked at it I thought you had maybe been over here on holiday!

Hi Jan,

One of us must have rotten eyesight, I thought your telegraph poles were iron posts supporting fence wires? Dear oh dear Jan, what is Africa coming to? Not a crocodile in sight Exclamation Shocked
