Celt was a bitch that I gave to my friend (Yes I do have one.......a friend) Shaun McCormack as my kennel was full when I was given her by the breeder Charlie Byrne. I won a Novive stake with her and then sent her over to Shaun who won another Novice stake and an Open. She came to Ireland for the 1999 season. She was a bit wild in her first two events so I withdrew her for a few weeks to sort her out. She then went on to win five out of the next eight or so open stakes that she ran in, either side of the border. The next Autumn I took her to the Irish Pointer Club's Pheasant stake in beet at Athy. She came second and thus became an International Field Trial Champion. This meant she had won trials on Grouse, Pheasant, Partridge and one on Snipe.
I was very fond of this dog. She stapled every dog in both my and Shaun's kennels, except her own offspring but she was honest. The day she won the Ulster Irish red Setter Club's Open Pheasant Stake she was down seven times and her find was right on the Full Time Whistle. She slept on the passenger seat beside me on the way home and when I bought her a battered sausage as a treat it was all she could do to to eat it. She was dead beat. Exhausted. Celt would never have let you down, she would rather have died first. Celt was was a very special bitch, she had balls.

T.G.B.O.

" The Great Bold One"

I would gladly give my right arm for another like Bold. Nose, pace, style and just about as full of badness as any pack of dogs, all on his own. I know I'll dream of him tonight. I did just about every night for two years after he died.
