Tara ( Mieko ) is a real bitch....

She looks quite like Grey, same eyes and appearance, only Tara's fur is a little darker. I'll take some pictures later this week so we can compare the two ladies Smile

Yes, she looks v similar! I think her beard is longer, but everything else looks the same, even the way she is standing with one foot slightly behind the other is how Grey often stands!

Hi,

Just saying hi as I'm about to get my SRHP puppy in June. I'd had an email from a GSP mailing list yesterday which was quite worrying about health issues with the breed. I contacted the breed club and they said that they were aware of the problems and doesn't involve any of the english stock. This was a problem from Ireland?

So, I think I'm reassured, but seeing as I'm new to the breed it had worried me last night.

The English stock, the Irish stock etc - there is no such thing. There are too few dogs here for there to be any distinct difference in lines between them yet Exclamation

Someone on my travels online had said to post on the GSP list for info because they might be able to point me in the right direction.

I got a mail from someone who owns GSPs but also had had 3 slovaks. She recounted extreme health problems and one dog unfortunately passed away. Said she wasn't the only one. The details of the issues were off list in a private mail.

Maybe she just had bad luck, or her 3 dogs were closely related and so shared whatever the health issue was?

I don't know of any health issues in the breed other than that I think they (will) have a higher average hip score than Weims, going by some of the scores I've seen so far - but again there are so few here and even fewer which are hip scored, I don't know when/if we will have an average to go by...

Grey at 8 weeks. (Josie - I ended up with the same name as you! Not copied, but it just seemed to fit. Maybe I'll call him Grey 2 on here!)
