What a good mixed bag. It must have been a fab day.
It is so rare that I ever get to use my HPR's for the real job. I'm sure it was just lovely to go out where there is some game, and have a few good guns with you.
I notice there are a couple of hare's...... tell us what happened then..... or is it that Longhairs are fast enough to catch them!

Larry shot one of them Karen, as were the others so we made him carry it all over the moor, serves him right. Birgit sent Arthur for the retrieve.
As for chasing well my Buchse Baby gave a very credible performance as Ballyreagon Bob when he was first let off.Never seen so many in one day, but all the dogs soon ignored them and got on with their job
Most interesting point of the day was Arthur's who flushed out a feral cat, the keepers were very impressed, failed his sharpness test tho! |

I'm already showing withdrawal symptoms for shooting days - 20 days into the close season and it seems like a lifetime. Hurry up next season Will just have to survive on photos and memories |

Thanks so much for posting your pics. I have always been a fan of the GLP, but it is a real thrill to see them work for what they were breed for.
Do they have moorland in Germany, or where the overseas guns thrilled to be out on the moor?
I just love the open space and scenery, so my aim is to get a hawk, but with the horses mounting up (4 now!), I think it might be a while |
