If I get another one in that might be suitable, i will drop you a pm. I hope this is him sorted. The guy that has taken him said that he dosent know what the guy was maoning about, he is practically trained, he reckons he will have him counting in March. I think the guy that had him before was just out of his depth, he couldnt handle his hunting drive.
Thanks Claire, I find it really stressful dealing with rescue, I cant bare to think of a wirey not being wanted (cant bare to thing of any breed not being wanted). Thankfully all but one that I havedealt with have been well looked after, just teh owners out their depth, and didnt think further a head than that beautiful puppy with the hairy face The one that wasnt loved and was in a terrible state, I cried when I picked him up and I cried all the way to the kennels that I put him in, I went to see him everyday for a week and finally found him a lovely home in Scotland with a couple that already had a wirey.
I do find it hard, but I cant give it up, I had a break when my dad died end of last year, but I have told the club I wll take it on again. |

I've helped a few times with getting rescues from A to B and it can be quite upsetting as in most times the dog is such a sweetie I can't imagine how people can turn them in and walk away. Nothing better than getting a real positive update after they've been in their new homes for a couple of days _________________ Sharon Pinkerton

pleased to hear he's settled in well Tracy. I agree, the rescue wires I've been involved in, are just in the wrong home. People going for that cute hairy face!

I haven't been on the forum for ages but thought that I should reply to Tracey's posting about the wirey that was in a state when she rescued him. It was us who rehomed him and he is dong really well. We have had him for 18 months now and he is a lovely dog to have in the house. He loves his cuddles and doesn't have a bad bone in his body. His separation anxiety is pretty much gone but he still screams the house down if you happen to mention the word 'walk'....but thats just the way his is (a complete drama queen)!
He was about 18 months when we got him so I wasn't sure whether he would take to work or not....but take to work he has. He goes beating, picking up and stalking. He didn't range quite far enough for grouse counting last year but I will take him out again this year to see how he gets on.
He makes our house a very happy place. |
