I know a brilliant vet in Cambridge who specializes in doing this work. What breeding would you want for your? bitch Leon _________________ Jan

Hi Ghillie,
I would obviously like from working stock and seperate from her Sire, Bertrams Prior (AF02901001) and Dam, Coco de Mer (AA02066505)
My only other requirement would for the lines to be as clean as possible, my bitch does have a little American blood in her.
Have you any idea what costs would be involved??
Regards, |

Wouldn't you need to find a stud dog owner willing to have the semen taken off first?
I sent semen to Norway from Flash a few years back, and used BritBreed Ltd in Dalkeith (At the time they had an excellent reputation with sheep and cattle but dogs were fairly new to them) The vet we had used his own lab bitch as a teaser, and he was very sympathetic to both me and my dog, but I have heard horror stories of some places using electric shock stimulants, so be very careful!

holy crap annie if thats the way they collect semen in the uk i can understand why i hit a brick wall when trying to find a gwp breeder willing to get a stud collected and put on ice to send to new zealand.
collecting semen is simple and bloodly cheap insurance for the future.
i'm surprised the uk breeders haven't seen the benefits of frozen semen,
imagine quality dogs like sharons freddie being able to sire litters ten years after he has died |

The vet that I know in Cambridge is very well known as an excellent and experienced collector and she also works closely with the KC. Friends of mine have used her without problems. _________________ Jan

UK breeders have it is the KC that is the problem. However, they are coming round to the idea eventually. AI can & has been done successfully in the UK with frozen & fresh semen & on maiden bitches.
The vet at Tweed House is on the KC General Committee & is excellent in her field IMO. I haven't had AI done but I have watched it done & was very impressed. _________________ Claire

I take it both of these use teasers? I believe in using the most natural method possible and would not have agreed to Flash being used by ANY other method than this. _________________ Aberdon HPR's. Good-looking AND Intelligent.
