As I have been insulted publicly on here by Windum Bang and with very some very nasty private mails, told by you yesterday that his requests were not unreasonable and to answer his question,  would you be so good as to to answer my question now please - is this a requirement for everyone to do this????

No Maxine it isn't a requirement for everyone to do this and I stated quite clearly that you didn't have to do this, it just seemed to me to be a reasonable question.

Personally I couldn't care less if you (or indeed anyone else) had the top anything. My sole concern is the smooth running of this forum and that its members continue to enjoy it as a friendly place where people with any type of HPR can meet and talk about their dogs and whatever it is they enjoy about their dogs, be it pet, show pony, trial dog, VDD dog etc.

If you have had nasty emails from anyone on this forum why haven't you forwarded them to either of the admin's on the forum? We have both been on here a lot in the last day or so and obviously appropriate action would be taken against anyone abusing the forum (and its members) in this way.

And finally this forum is a service to the HPR community provided by myself and Jo (with help from Guy and Helen) none of us get paid for what we do and we do it because by and large we like dogs and doggy people but it is a thankless task and frankly I don't have the time or interest to act as a referee amongst people who should know better. By and large we don't need to moderate on this forum because it is self moderating (look back through this thread and see the requests to get back on topic by forum members)

I am locking this thread now and it will stay locked for the time being. I am going to go through it and move the stuff specific to DD and testing to a new thread and then maybe we can get back to talking about hprs?

IF you feel the need to carry on this conversation then feel free to PM me or Josie.

Hi Maxine,

I don't believe you were criticized for your dogs or where they came from.  What was questioned originally was how relevant the German testing system is for dogs being worked under UK rules and conditions.  I don't think anyone disputes that the German system is good and more complete than the UK one, just that some aspects of the German system are clearly out of step with practices in the UK.

I will leave it at that, I have no wish to be drawn into an arguement.

I've just valiantly tried to read this entire thread in order to understand how things have developed here.  However, I barely made it past page 5.

I've always thought that, in terms of achievements in any area, actions speak louder than words.

It seems to me that many people on this thread know each other from other forums or have history which is affecting the way they relate to each other here.  It also seems that things are being said by PMs which are then affecting the way people relate to each other in this thread.

Please debate issues and not personalities or things become very tense and tedious at the same time.  Please be POLITE when addressing these issues and respect that others may not have the same opinion as you.  This does not mean they are Nasty People, just that they do not have the same opinion as you!

Please do not mention things you have been told by PM or email in public on the forum.  If someone sends a PM, they have chosen to do so because they don't want what they are saying to be publicised.  It defeats the point of having PMs if people are going to worry that their PMs will be made public if they send them!  Anything told to admins/moderators by PM is confidential and will only be shared with other admins/moderators if it concerns the running of the forum.  If you are having an argument with someone by PM and you are also posting to them on a public thread, please do not let the animosity of your private argument spill over into the public thread.  If you feel you are being harassed by PM, please let admins know and do not respond to the harassment with harassment of your own back (or you then become implicated yourself).

On attempting to re-read this thread, it does not appear to me, as an outsider to the GWP world and deliberately bringing no prior knowledge of anything to this, that the way things have escalated can be blamed on any one person/kennel.  In fact, there are numerous points where people have overstepped the mark with what they have posted and this is true of almost everyone who has been involved in the argument here.

For future reference, please know that, if necessary, we are prepared to warn and ban people.  Healthy debate and differences of opinion are a welcome part of this forum.  We certainly don't want everyone to agree with everyone else to maintain status quo - that would just be boring.  We do err much more on the side of freedom of speech than many other forums.  However, with this comes more responsibility on the part of members to consider the way in which they choose to disagree and to try to keep things civil and respectful at all times.
