I agree, but I have this conviction that HPR's should be dual purpose, so perhaps it's me that will be nagging me more than others. Have proved him in the ring so now have to prove him in the field. So perhaps I will also be nagging other Brittany owners too. I few have proved them already - Ghillie is one on here. There may be others. Thanks for the kind words, ladies. _________________ Aberdon HPR's. Good-looking AND Intelligent.
I like mine to be dual purpose & I have been lucky enough to own 2 full champions but not all dogs can excel at more than 1 discipline. Take my youngster for example, she doesn't like showing but excels working which I am quite happy about & suits me.
Just cos others have done certain disciplines doesn't mean you have to follow why put the added pressure on yourself? _________________ Claire Minstergate Weimaraners
I have realised that you should just enjoy your dogs and do whatever you want to do, without having to feel you have to prove anything to anyone.

Here here.
Whilst i tend to agree with you both about doing it for yourself and your dog - however - I thought this was a 'working' dog forum. _________________ Guy; Ellie Topaz Catja. http://www.epagneulbreton.org.uk
Only the USA and the UK seperate looks from ability. Continental breeds abide by the concepts through performance to type where conformation is just as important as ability. Your own Brittany's from Germany have no doubt been graded for conformation coat and type ?

PS A Brittany went BIS at Mid Herts yesterday and I do believe it works but then this won't be of interest to working Brit owners will it now! _________________ Home of pure German Longhairs ,Ch HV's and Ch GSP's.

I was coming from - work your dog and don't feel as though you HAVE to compete. Is a dog that field trials, any better than a dog that is simply "a working dog"?
