The only blue I've seen had super conformation - much better than a lot of greys - but if I was judging I would have to penalise the colouring severely as it did not conform to the UK standard, and that's the standard we judge to in this country. _________________ Liz
over here the puppy farmers getting hold of them is relatively new as we've not had them long and it just seems a real pity that for the sake of colour they end up with that sort of fate. Bad enough the greys are being churned out for the handbag brigade the blues aren't even getting a fair chance.
Liz where did you see the blue I've seen two so far and they were dreadful would be nice to see something half decent. _________________ These are my personal opinions and do not represent in any way the views of the WCGB.

So which came first....blue or grey Is the grey a dilute of the blue or was grey the original colour Looking at it, it could almost be the colour of a blue Great Dane Or, heaven forbid, is there Dane blood behind the Weimars _________________ Jan

The silver-grey Weimaraner colour is actually a dilute brown. There are various shades of it from very light silver to a much darker, almost liver version called Mouse grey (maus dunkel grau)
The blue-grey coat is a dilute black and is quite similar to the blue coat of the Great Dane, Italian Greyhound or Neopolitan Mastif.
As to Weims having Dane blood, there is some support for the idea in the old literature. Dr. Kleeman of GSP fame for example was convinced that the Weim was developed from the Blue Dane but his theories are now more or less discounted. _________________ facta non verba
That is really interesting....many thanks for posting it
