Well, after lurking for a good while and as I've posted a couple of messages regarding lost Jacob I though I'd better introduce myself.
I'm Kim I live on the Dorset/Hampshire border with 5 Bracchi Italiani and 2 elderly Spins. I've been involved in the dog world for about 28 years and with Italian gundogs for 24 years. Although my main involvement with dogs has been the showing side I've always done something else with them be it agility, obedience or (don't condemn me immediately please lol) heelwork to music. I have done a little 'proper' gundog work, many years ago with a Spin and more recently with a Bracco, sadly injury put paid to his working days. My latest bitch who is home bred and now 10 months old made it plain to me very early on that she was keen to work so I've decided to take this route with her and as I have little experience in this field made the decision to take her on the Gundog Club courses. Being weekly I hope the training sessions have prevented me inadvertantly taking the wrong paths so far and I'm proud to say she has passed levels 1 & 2 with a distinction. We intend to start with the Bristol & West's Tuesday training days in February so if anyone here goes along I'd welcome a little guidance along the way with my training.
I've read with interest all the training posts and hope to pick up many more tips from you all in the future.
Thanks Kim

Welcome to the forum Kim. Good to hear you're coming in from the "dark side" and giving your youngster a go at working. Any photos you can share with us? _________________ Beer is proof that God loves us and wants us to be happy. |

Hi Kim and welcome out of the world of Lurkdom!!
I'm in Portsmouth, Hants so not too far from you! Good luck with your training! I'm starting mine with the GSPC at the Three legged Cross (New Forest) on Sunday so can't wait!
Let us know how you get on! |

Thanks John. I'll try to find a couple of pics for you.
Lisa, you drive past the end of my road to get to Three Cross (as it's known locally), I'm in Ashley Heath. Do you think they'd object to a strange Italian dog joining in? I decided to go to Bristol & West partly because it's a Tuesday, getting to anything on a Sunday is difficult to do regularly as there is always a committee meeting or something. But if they are happy for me to come when I can I'd appreciate another day in the month to learn a bit more. |

That would be fine Kim!
I too can't make all Sundays due to shows etc so will be attending when I can. The training is only on the first Sunday of every month so no huge commitment!. I'm following another person up there on Sunday but I can ask them exactly where it is so you are able to find it. It will be great to meet you and you're Italian companion!! |

Thanks for the welcome guys, it looks like I may get to meet at least a couple of you so that will be good.
I did try to post some pics of the gang but being the computer illiterate I am have failed miserably. The FAQ's say you can't post directly but it's obvious by the lovely pics on the forum people have so if someone would be kind enough to give me a few pointers I'll bore you with the Brac Pack.
Lisa, if you can give me a time and location for Sunday it would be much appreciated. Hope to see you there.
