People do things on the spur of the moment and because it seems like a good idea at the time...
I had ex-friends (diff breed who I had known and been close to for 15 years) who put up on a list that their new website was launching and the domain name.....
well I searched the Whois and found the name was not owned by that kennel yet. So a gp of friends and I registered that .com name, a .co.nz name plus a couple of derivatives and it really put the cat amongst the pidgeons (we didn't use our own names tho) anyway after about 18mths the ex friends and I started chatting again ...

one asked who had bought the names and I told her who had registered each one... we are still talking and are actually better friends now than ever - and she acknowledged the mistake in advertising something she didn't own....and also why I played the part I did...the other owners still own at least one of the names I think.

Not quite the same shows why things are done....

I believe I commented on your site when you first put it up.... I am sad for your loss but open warfare and name - shame just doesn't work......

Not quite the same Rae as in this case and I have no reason to keep fuelling the fire but I feel the facts should be stated.

I have "never" purchased any domain names in retaliation - it's pointless and childish and in the business world deemed to be unethical.    As for the "reason" given - I think you will find that all we did with our new websites at the time was copy the keywords used by Peter which had Bareve and Sashal in their keywords.......   And we do have proof that these keywords were used.

I think you will also find that the first strike in the open warfare did not come from me but it hasn't stopped me from being included in that front line......   But hey don't worry about me because I will continue to show how good our dogs are in the ring and in the field  Laughing  Laughing  Laughing

Moderators - I would suggest this thread is now locked as all it has no real relevance on a working forum.......

Hmmm, regardless of these 'games' and the semantics, I think this discussion may be academic, since, out of interest I tried a fairly well used search engine -  Yahoo -  and typed in just  'bareve', Sharon's website is top of the list.  Did a screen shot and have attached it.

That's what I would normally do if I was looking for a specific kennel name - try it with mine.  Just call up yahoo  and type in 'aberdon'  (and before you ask, John, it comes up first in easysearch too  Wink  Laughing  Laughing  (www.easysearch.org.uk)

We will have to agree to disagree on "name and shame".

I have tried to work with the McCulloughs for well about two years and I feel that in truth I have been very patient with them. They have imported new lines but I have yet to see whether they have changed their breeding strategy.

Sharon knows that I am connected to a number of pet owners from various breeds who have had similar issues with their pedigree dogs and their breeders. We have now all established web sites or blogs and it is our strategy to publish the pedigrees and state the facts of our experience. We are tired of the inertia of breed clubs and the KC.

I think that probably the key thing that has triggered such anger in Peter is not so much the publishing of Alfie's pedigree but that I have publicly stated that I can work with Bareve. You can in my experience have very meaningful and fruitful discussions with Sharon and she is of course extremely knowledgeable. Knowing the other camp as I do that will be the trigger that has got them so hypertensive.

I am afraid that this notion of "I am sorry for your loss but please move on" or "please keep quiet" is one I no longer respect. The point is it may well look like I have not moved on from my loss - that is because everyday - everyday other pet owners are still experiencing heartbreaking and needless issues with their pedigree dogs. As far as I am concerned the breed clubs have had sufficient time to act and as the APGAW and the Bateson reviews will conclude not enough has been done. I encourage all the pet owners who contact me to name and shame because otherwise the issues will stagnate.

By the way Alfie's pedigree has been posted up for a while now and it was just my revealing Peter's underhand use of a domain name that should belong to Sharon that seems to have drawn his attention to this.

Philippa,
Whilst I don't have a huge problem with what you are doing, fundamentally I don' think it is fair for you to launch one sided attack on the "McCullough's" when they aren't able to defend themelves on this forum.

Thanks Mike for sorting the edit function - I hate spelling mistakes and bad grammar Smile

Honestly Sharon, I don't care who started it - I live on the other side of the world and it's all just the same as what happens here.......there must be fault on all sides to keep it going..... yes I have Kimmax... and if you had sold overseas I probably would have considered a Bareve too.. Wink
I am pretty sure I haven't done anything to offend anyone on here - I have my opinions on things as we all do and yes I am outspoken on some things... BUT lets face it if I wasn't out there in New Zealand agitating then breeders here wouldn't be even looking at including eyes, thyroid, vWD and hip/elbows...in breeding programmes.

Isn't that what we are all trying to achieve?

and as for name shame - I have always said "Let He Who Is Without Sin, Cast The First Stone.....

Take care Rae
