Yeah he has His growth problems started when he went lame from a ligament injury in his shoulder and I put him onto lead walking and didn't cut down his food!! A lesson learnt - he is on a BARF diet so calcium shortfall wasn't the issue -esp not with the amount of chicken wings and other bones he could consume Yes I did contact you enquiring about pups and must admit I found everyone I contacted very helpful and committed to the breed esp re: taking one on as they are not a breed to suit all - but once owned by one even for my husband who is not overly doggy (even though we have 3 now!) he loves him to pieces and said I could have another one. So taking no chances got it sorted straight away!!!!
Hi Sue,
Not sure if Schmurf will be competing in October but like to go along to see people and give a bit of support. He and Beecham can have a play again - seems to be what they like doing best So you and I are now playing the waiting game with Fee, i.e. when will she come into season, will there be a mating, will there be any pups, how many and what proportion of boys to girls????? Anxious times
Hi Helen
I am based in York - do the gsp club have a site or list on the net somewhere?
I am prepared to travel a reasonable distance and do for obedience training quite often going to Redcar for a day here and there, summer is obedience season (well it is all year round but I don't like indoor shows or horrid weather!!) so am used to travelling at this time of year!!! _________________ Regards

Hi Tina
Schmurf really does sound as if he's been in the wars. Poor him. Poor you. In the past, I've had people tell me they don't like dogs but would I mind if they stroked my beautiful dog! No imagination needed to see what these LMs do to people who actually start by liking them! What are your other 2?
We'll look forward to seeing you @ the October Show then. Yes, we find it an excellent opportunity to catch up with people & for Beecham to meet more LMs. His old mentor (my last dog's sister) has got a tad grumpy now she is 10 and won't play with a young upstart. Beecham is now completely fascinated by Peter's Megan...
That's a very apt description of waiting for the next pup... We're hoping it's second time lucky. I'm a great believer that if it is right it will happen, but it's tough. We tried to keep a lid on the excitement last time & didn't get one which was sad all round. So... here's hoping. Fee's a great dog AND she liked Beecham!!
Here's the address of all the HPR clubs. Don't know if it will be useful for you or not, but it might help with finding some training. I think you'll have to cut & paste it.
Hi Sue,
My other 2 dogs are Milly an 11yr old collie cross bitch who keeps Schmurf well in line and Mika a 3yr old lurcher who takes him off on hunting sprees!!!! I do obedience with Mika but she is a bit of a lazy mare and is clever enough to out manipulate me every time!!
Fee liked Schmurf as well and they are similar in size so I would like a bitch his size or a little bit smaller in height and quite a bit lighter in frame!! oh and black and white with a really nice head coz that is what I pick a puppy on and alot of drive and strong desire to play -not that I am expecting much Though chances are I will pick her by instinct within 2-3 weeks as I did Schmurf but then had to wait until 6 weeks until I knew I could have him -that was a nightmare as well!! _________________ Regards
How great to have an older dog to keep the youngsters in line - I've had to 'borrow' dogs to do just that. Bet Mika keeps Schmurf fit!! She sounds a great character. You have big shopping list there! We've been lucky with the last two as we've had first pick & chose the pup who 'showed' himself to us... The next will be different that's for sure. Ideally, I'd have a pup with different markings so I can tell the dogs apart at a distance!!
