The WHV [Otis] is certainly a character... and we are finding the same with Archie the Border Terrier - and ONLY ten weeks old - the Wire I can only make comparisons to a small child wanting to please but also have his own way
As to getting in to Falconry... I'd suggest - recommend - finding any Falconers local to you and just getting out with them. That way you can be "involved" as and when you can fit things in with the present life committments without taking on - at this time - the committment to a hawk until you have learnt some more about it
We have a very good friend who has birds of prey of all shapes and sizes and it really does appeal to my husband (more so than me I have to say).
This time of year we are out every Saturday either beating/Shooting and Fox Hunting, my husband is very busy with Deer stalking during the week and I unfortunately have to work 9-5.......We are back to that lottery win again.
Maybe it is something he could take up in his retirement....If we have any field sports left by then.
