I ask this as Blu will not leave Emmy alone (if you know what I mean Wink ) in the last couple of days.  Usually he will have a try with Emmy every evening around tea time but we just tell Emmy to tell him off.  But today and yesterday he has been driving me insane! Mad

He is constantly licking her and climbing on her Rolling Eyes  she was even sitting on the sofa with me and Blu was crying to get on her! Shocked  I don't want to keep telling him to get off her but she has her stitches in her leg and if he is not careful he is going to pull them out Confused

Emmy is 4 years old and was spayed a long time ago.  Is it more to do with Blu and his hormones as he is nearly 17mths or is he smelling something on her?

Please help!! Smile

Chase mated a spayed bitch the other day - we worked out she would have been due in season and she was flirting with him too. So yes I think they can Rolling Eyes  Laughing .

Yes they can. My old girl always used to give off a scent when she would have been in season.

Is it like humans and hysterectomies?  Ovaries left in so they still have normal hormonal changes?

No, ovaries are removed in dog spay.

But I believe that a small amount of the hormones are made in other locations in the body.

Slate is happy to hear she will still smell good though!

It hasn't done that to Hester(my GWP) I've never had my boys after her after she was spayed and Flash was a very experienced stud dog - Hmm, maybe that's why he wasn't interested.  Allez has only recently been used and he never bothers her either, and they live together with me in the house. Weird.

Some bitches seem to have "sex appeal" regardless of age or whether or not they've been speyed.   Our Sula was one of them, and one time I was "accused" of taking out an in-season bitch.   My reply was "she was speyed 5 years ago" (she was 12 at the time Shocked  Embarassed  Very Happy )

It's funny you should say that Liz as Emmy always used to attract the interest of other males before we even got Blu.  Maybe she just a sexy girl!! Wink  Laughing

That's what my vet reckons - some bitches have "it", others haven't Very Happy
