Hi all
Right this is very much in its infancy but I've just ''after a lot of talking'' got my better half to agree to look into moving to Spain in a few years time I'm 50 in a few months and am adamant that I'm ''A'' not working past 60 and ''B'' not retiring in this climate due to a medical condition that makes my body over react to cold weather.
So I know the Spanish love shooting over pointers and love hunting in general,  but does anyone know the best areas for sport as I need to start somewhere and I guess with shooting being my passion it's the best place to start ?  Need to start looking about as there's much to consider and as I said this is very much in its infancy but as I'm a joiner I'm more than happy to buy a house in need of work if it fitted the bill.
Any help in any way would be very gratefully received
Regards
James

If 'The Boss' "required a lot of talking", perhaps it would be diplomatic to ask her what areas she would like to live first, and then work you way round that with the shooting?

From the experience of friends, you need to carefully research the implications  to yourselves regarding the National Health Service in the UK, should you migrate.

Good luck, sounds like a great plan in the making.
Depending on the EU referendum result of course!
You may find yourselves aliens and persona non grata!

I have two friends who moved to Spain from Scotland 15 years ago for the same reasons as you. They are both (man and wife) gundog fanatics so they moved back here again about 5 years ago.
I don't know what part of Spain they were in but they both said it was far too hot to train dogs .

Many thanks for taking the time to reply both of you,   the better half says that she wants to be maximum 30mins to a beach and doesn't want little England in the sun !! But after that she open minded so I've lots of scope for areas
I like the mountains and so I'd like ideally to be an hr max from some mountain ranges,  and need to within a good hunting area

I understand that the heat in the summer can raise its issues for dogs but surely if the correct precautions are taken then it's doable.

Regards
James
